            Continuing on from THE TWELVE STARS OF ISRAEL is a deeper explanation of the two different promises one of the woman’s seed and the other of ruler-ship.  The following excerpts are from Paul Smillie’s book MARY BAKER EDDY.  {My comments will be in these types of brackets.}

THE TWELVE STARS OF ISRAEL

            The word son means “month”.  So the twelve sons of Jacob can mean the twelve months of Jacob, or even the year.  What is interesting is that the Jews have thirteen months in a year and Jacob actually had thirteen children, even though his daughter is mostly forgotten and given NO inheritance or place on the rim of the wheel.  It is also a fact that in Numbers Moses takes Levi out of the rim of the wheel (of twelve tribes, or the twelve months of the zodiac) and places Levi in the center hub on the outside (the four sides) of the  Holy Tabernacle Tent of Meeting.  He also replaces Levi on the rim with Joseph’s son Manasseh and replaces Joseph on the rim with his youngest son Ephraim who was given the birthright blessing.  It is possible that there was once thirteen zodiac constellations, if not thirteen, then when Ophiuchus was part of the belt, then Scorpio and Libra were joined as one. When Ophiuchus was taken away as one of the zodiac constellations this would have been when Scorpio and Libra were separated and both were given a place in the belt (the rim).  It is quite possible that if and when Libra and Scorpio were joined in union they were seen as a flying eagle. And it is because of this, today, that Scorpio is in the correct position for the flying eagle on the belt.

GENERIC MAN

            I quoted from Paul R. Smillie’s book MARY BAKER EDDY in my post IS MARY BAKER EDDY THE WOMAN THAT GOD-CROWNED?  In his book he talks about generic man and the woman God-crowned (Revelation 12) and that Mary Baker Eddy is the human appearing of the absolute generic man, that the woman in the Apocalypse is the symbol, just as Jesus, being the human appearing, is the Lamb (symbol) and the Christ is the absolute.  We even use the term of Christ Jesus or Jesus Christ, which is the absolute Christ appearing as the human Jesus and the symbol is that he is the Lamb of God.  Smillie says that we do not call ourselves the Lamb of God, for there is only one Lamb and that is Jesus.  He continues to say that we cannot claim to be the woman of the Apocalypse because that belongs to Mary Baker Eddy alone.  But I am wondering if he is 100% correct about what he says on this topic.  {All my comments to his work and Helen Wright’s work, while quoting from their books, will be in these types of brackets.}  On page 245 he says, “Christian Scientists are fond of saying that Mrs. Eddy says the Woman in the Apocalypse is generic man, but she does not say that.  ‘The woman in the Apocalypse symbolizes generic man, the spiritual idea of God; she illustrates the coincidence of God and man as the divine Principle and divine idea.’  This statement says that the Woman ‘symbolizes’ generic man but certainly does not say the woman is generic man.

IS MARY BAKER EDDY THE WOMAN THAT GOD-CROWNED IN REVELATION 12?

            How does Mary Baker Eddy answer this question?  She gives us the answer when she first tells us that there is a messenger (or angel) from God that we must take notice of in her chapter “The Apocalypse”.  [My comments will be in these types of brackets.]

            “Revelation xii. 1.  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

“True estimate of God’s messenger [angel]

            “Heaven represents harmony, and divine Science interprets the Principle of heavenly harmony.  The great miracle, to human sense, is divine Love, and the grand necessity of existence is to gain the true idea of what constitutes the kingdom of heaven in man [within man’s consciousness – for that is the only place the kingdom of heaven can be located].  This goal is never reached while we hate our neighbor or entertain a false estimate of anyone whom God has appointed to voice His Word.  [God appointed Mary Baker Eddy to voice His Word.]  Again, without a correct sense of its highest visible idea [womanhood], we can never understand the divine Principle [God].  The botanist must know the genus and species of a plant in order to classify it correctly.  As it is with things, so it is with persons.

Chapter 7 – The Second Woe’s Struggle and Peril

The Two Transits of Venus

            Venus, the morning star that Jesus promised to us in Revelation, traversed the sun twice during the mission of the woman God-crowned.  Both transits took place on Wednesdays.  The first was on December 9, 1874 and the second one was on December 6, 1882.  This set of transits across the sun took the symbols from Revelation and made them come true, for the angel with “a little book open” is “clothed with a cloud” and the woman God-crowned is “clothed with the sun”.  Venus is clothed with a cloud of volcanic ash and “his [her] face was as it were the sun” because it is clothed with the sun during its transits.  She is the morning star Jesus promised to us.  The angel is feminine because of the symbol of the rainbow (the only place in the BIBLE that this word is used), this rainbow points to the goddess Iris.  This angel is one with the woman God-crowned, they are one and the same – they are Mary Baker Eddy.  However, Mary Baker Eddy depicts Venus in her illustrated poem Christ and Christmas with seven points of light.  This symbolizes God as Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love.
