INTERLUDE for VISION III – THE TWO GIFTS and THE TWO WITNESSES
Chapter 10:1-11:14 is the third Vision’s interlude. John sees another mighty (a ministering) angel come down from heaven (the second coming of Christ comes from our Father-Mother God).
This angel is of great importance because she represents Michael, the angel of Truth….
… as one with Gabriel, the angel of Love.
CHAPTER 10 – the first gift
Verse 1 – “‘another mighty angel’—Christianity as the Christ (Spirit, Life, Truth). The Christ forever revealing itself in true Christianity enabled Mrs. Eddy to see Life in and of Spirit and to discover Christian Science [as depicted below in SEEKING AND FINDING].”
Mind – the mighty angel
Verse 1 cont. – “‘clothed with a cloud’—the tone of Mind. Mrs. Eddy devotes the opening section of her chapter ‘The Apocalypse’ to the first two verses of Chapter 10, and she begins by saying, ‘This angel or message which comes from God, clothed with a cloud, prefigures divine Science. To mortal sense Science seems at first obscure, abstract, and dark; but a bright promise crowns its brow’ (S&H 558:9-12). That gives much the same sense as ‘darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light’—Mind made manifest. (See also S&H 298:2-7.)”
Verse 1 cont. – “‘and a rainbow was upon his head’—the tone of Spirit. The rainbow symbolizes the sevenfold reflection of the divine order. The correlative statement in Mrs. Eddy’s interpretation reads, ‘When understood, it is Truth’s prism and praise’ (S&H 558:13), and she says elsewhere, ‘It only needs the prism of this Science to divide the rays of Truth, and bring out the entire hues of Deity, which scholastic theology has hidden. The lens of Science magnifies the divine power to human sight; and we then see the supremacy of Spirit and the nothingness of matter’ (Mis. 194:13-18). The prism of Spirit splits up the light of Truth into its numerals.”
Verse 1 cont. – “‘and his face [identity, tone of Soul] was as it were the sun [Spirit], and his feet as pillars of fire [foundations of Truth and Love]’—the tone of Soul.” “When you look it fairly in the face, you can heal by its means, and it has for you a light above the sun, for God ‘is the light thereof.’ Its feet are pillars of fire, foundations of Truth and Love. It brings the baptism of the Holy Ghost, whose flames of Truth were prophetically described by John the Baptist as consuming error.” (S&H 558:13-19) “The Revelator symbolizes Spirit by the sun.” (S&H 561:25-26) Because Mary Baker Eddy tells us this, in her section on the woman God-crowned, I take it to mean that we must use the same tone of Spirit in regards to the angle’s face. However, Doorly feels different about this, as he uses a quote from S&H 510:16-17 instead, which is from the chapter “Genesis”. He says, “The face always symbolizes identity, and the sun is a ‘representation of Soul outside the body’.” I say, that John was telling us that the identity (Soul) of the angel is that of Spirit (the sun), the woman God-crowned.
Doorly continues on with the angel’s two feet, “‘Feet as pillars of fire’ indicates that Soul destroys false material sense, — burns the tares, — and so reveals true identity.”
Mary Baker Eddy tells us about this angel at the very beginning of the Textbook’s sixteenth chapter “The Apocalypse”. The angel is clothed with a cloud (According to Mary Baker Eddy this means that Science is at first “obscure, abstract, and dark,” but is it possible that it is also a reference to the fact that this angel is a divine messenger and that this divine messenger is fulfilling the Arch of the Covenant [my name] presented to Noah with the “bow in the cloud”? (See Genesis 9:13) A rainbow (fulfillment of the Arch of the Covenant) is upon his (her) head. His (her) face is like the sun, this means that she is also the woman God-crowned of Revelation 12 (in the capstone vision). His (her) feet are pillars of fire, which spiritually baptize by fire – purified spiritual understanding via Truth and Love – via Michael and Gabriel.
“We know that this angel is not one of the seven angels of His presence because they are blowing the trumpets in the Vision. [This angel prefigures (foresees; foreshadows) divine Science.] This angel may be the one who presented the seal of the living God in the interlude of Vision II. There is one thing we can know. He is as the Bible definition of angels tells us, a ‘ministering spirit, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation’ or freedom. Everything associated with this evangel is indicative of light and illumination. Even the rainbow thought is reminiscent of the covenant promise and suggests that whatever the storm experience, there is always the promise of calm. Now this angel presents two gifts to John. One is a ‘little book open.’ A book always contains a record. This book is in the angel’s hand, which signifies that it is a record of the truth about God. As he gives this book to John, the angel sets his right foot upon the sea (hidden erroneous conditions), and his left foot upon the earth (material thinking), indicating dominion over these types of thinking. As he cried out there was great upheaval, the seven thunders uttered their voices. This was at the moment when John was about to write what the little book said. But John heard a voice saying, ‘Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered and write them not,’ but, ‘in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then is finished the mystery of God’ (R.V.). This indicates that after the seventh angel has blown his trumpet, John is to be prepared to declare the information which the little book gave to him.”
Mary Baker Eddy explains: “The new Evangel
“This angel or message which comes from God, clothed with a cloud, prefigures divine Science. To mortal sense Science seems at first obscure, abstract, and dark; but a bright promise crowns its brow. When understood, it is Truth’s prism and praise. When you look it fairly in the face, you can heal by its means, and it has for you a light above the sun, for God ‘is the light thereof.’ Its feet are pillars of fire, foundations of Truth and Love. It brings the baptism of the Holy Ghost, whose flames of Truth were prophetically described by John the Baptist as consuming error.” (S&H 558:9-19)
In her hand is “a little book open.” This book is the book of Life (which is the tree of life in Genesis) in VISION VI (20:12), this book is SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES, by Mary Baker Eddy. Again this book is mentioned in Revelation 22:19 as “the book of this prophecy”.
Verse 2 – “‘and he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth’—the tone of Principle, the divine system, which demands to be understood and demonstrated. The ‘little book’ contained the revelation of divine Science [the right foot of Love], reduced to the divine system of Christian Science [the left foot of Truth]. Mrs. Eddy writes, ‘This angle had in his hand ‘a little book,’ open for all to read and understand. Did this same book contain the revelation of divine Science, the ‘right foot’ or dominant power of which was upon the sea, — upon elementary, latent error, the source of all error’s visible forms? The angel’s left foot was upon the earth; that is, a secondary power was exercised upon visible error and audible sin’ (S&H 559:1-8). As Christ, Truth, comes to you, and you begin to understand the system of Principle, that enables you to deal with the fundamental error of the carnal mind, and also with its effects, — sin, disease, and death. (See also Ret. 38:27-30.)” The right foot stands (has dominion over) the sea (the subjective – unconscious error) while the left foot stands (has dominion over) the earth (the objective – visible and audible error). These two feet represent the two woman sentinels that Mary Baker Eddy placed on the cover of her Sentinel in 1906. These two women are seen in Christ and Christmas as Mary Baker Eddy and generic man. In CHRISTIAN UNITY Mary holds the scroll of CHRISTIAN SCIENCE and in TRUTH versus ERROR Martha holds the scroll of absolute Christian Science.
In “the first vision the Bible was sealed with seven seals, and … in the second vision those seals were opened-through scientific analysis. Now, in the third vision we have come to the point where Truth has uncovered error and is revealing the ‘little book,’ which to-day we call ‘Science and Health,’ and this ‘little book’ is not sealed, but ‘open for all to read and understand.’” Yet, in Christ and Christmas Mary Baker Eddy shows this book as being open in only one Illustration – “SUFFER THE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME.” “Our two textbooks are the Bible and ‘Science and Health.’ The Bible tells the story of the fatherhood of God and of the sonship of God as manhood, and ‘Science and Health’ tells of the womanhood of God and the motherhood of God. The ‘little book’ symbolizes the fulfillment of the true sense of manhood in the revelation of the womanhood and motherhood of God as the system of Science.” Is this not why Mary Baker Eddy has a girl (or a babe) sitting in the chair foursquare in Illustration 7?
Doorly continues, “never forget that although you and I may see the correlation of the ‘little book’ with the historical fact of ‘Science and Health,’ that ‘little book’ is really a symbol of an eternal, spiritual value. Here it illustrates the idea of system. When you write something in a book, you systematize it, and so the ‘little book’ is introduced to give the tone of Principle. It is true that historically we do value these symbols immensely, but we can’t demonstrate them as such, and we must never limit the application of these symbols to a particular period in history or in our own experience. We have to see their metaphysical significance here and now, so that they point the way to that which is eternity, that which is reality, that which is infinity. Every detail in Revelation is a symbol, and must be recognized as a symbol.”
Yet, Doorly fails to understand the symbols presented by Mary Baker Eddy in Christ and Christmas. In SEEKING AND FINDING Mary sits in the chair foursquare and the Morning Star shines down upon her and an open BIBLE. In “SUFFER THE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME” Martha sits in the chair foursquare and the Morning Star shines down upon her and an open SCIENCE AND HEALTH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES. These are the only two illustrations that have a chair foursquare in them. The girl is not Mary Baker Eddy, so who is she? Who does the “babe” represent? She must be the woman messenger knocking at the door of her own conscious thought (see the girl-boy inside looking outward) in the second illustration of TRUTH versus ERROR. She must be the right foot of divine Science, the second woman sentinel, and the second female representative of the Christ.
“The important thing to bear in mind is that all that is really happening is the coming to mankind of the Christ-idea in infinite Science, which reveals the right idea of God and man, the unity or coincidence of God and man from all eternity, and which brings to light the fact that man as God’s likeness is the idea of Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. The right idea of man is the recognition of the manhood and womanhood of God’s creating. God made man ‘male and female,’ and each one of us individually reflects the fatherhood and motherhood of God.”
Verse 3 tells us that “the still, small voice cries” like a “lion roars” and when this Truth of the Word is spoken the seven thunders of evil utter their voices. This is called chemicalization.
“This angel had in his hand ‘a little book,’ open for all to read and understand. Did this same book contain the revelation of divine Science, the ‘right foot’ or dominant power of which was upon the sea, — upon elementary, latent error, the source of all error’s visible forms? The angel’s left foot was upon the earth; that is, a secondary power was exercised upon visible error and audible sin. The ‘still, small voice’ of scientific thought reaches over continent and ocean to the globe’s remotest bound. The inaudible voice of Truth is, to the human mind, ‘as when a lion roareth.’ It is heard in the desert and in dark places of fear. It arouses the ‘seven thunders’ of evil, and stirs their latent forces to utter the full diapason of secret tones. Then is the power of Truth demonstrated, — made manifest in the destruction of error. Then will a voice from harmony cry: ‘Go and take the little book. …Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.’ Mortals, obey the heavenly evangel [Mary Baker Eddy is this heavenly evangel]. Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter. When you approach nearer and nearer to this divine Principle, when you eat the divine body of this Principle, — thus partaking of the nature, or primal elements, of Truth and Love, — do not be surprised nor discontented because you must share the hemlock cup and eat the bitter herbs; for the Israelites of old at the Paschal meal thus prefigured this perilous passage out of bondage into the El Dorado [city of gold = a divine city] of faith and hope.” (S&H 559:1-559:31; [My interpolations.])
Life – the eternity and indivisibility of being
Verses 3 & 4 – “as when a lion roareth” and “the seven thunders” — “The ‘still, small voice’ of scientific thought reaches over continent and ocean to the globe’s remotest bound. The inaudible voice of Truth is, to the human mind, ‘as when a lion roareth.’ It is heard in the desert and in dark places of fear. It arouses the ‘seven thunders’ of evil, and stirs their latent forces to utter the full diapason of secret tones.” (S&H 559:8-14)
Verses 3 & 4 (cont.) and 5 & 6 – “With the coming of the ‘little book,’ the reduction of divine metaphysics to a system, the uncovering of error goes on apace, but when the ‘seven thunders’ have ‘uttered their voices,’ Life demands, ‘Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not,’ and declares that there shall be time no longer — error is no longer to be recorded, because its uncovering has shown it to have no history and therefore it is no longer believed in. The belief of time gives place to eternity. Life uncovers the nothingness of the record of error, and this uncovering demonstrates immortality. So here we have a perfect symbol of the laying down of the mortal concept. (See also S&H 595:17-21 and 44:5-8.)”
After St. John hears the seven thunders he is about to write about divine Science (verse 4), but he is told to “Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.” He understands that the world is not ready to receive the Truth about evil, not yet.
The mighty message of SCIENCE AND HEALTH has dominion over the earth and sea (visible error and invisible sin). Hoyt write, “since the fourth Vision follows immediately after the seventh point of the third Vision, we can expect to find the message of the little book in the fourth Vision. With this realization, John took the book from the hand of the angel who told him to take it and eat it up; that is would make his belly bitter but would be in his mouth sweet as honey, an indication that though the message of the truth about God would be a precious one, it would also be difficult of assimilation until thoroughly digested – and not always ‘easy to take.’”
Decreeing by the name of God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and all that they contain, that life is eternal, that time shall be abolished, it shall be no more. This seems almost unreal to humans that time will end. The endtime is supposed to be just that, but we still believe in time, we still have watches, clocks, calendars, etc. When will mankind let go of birthdays, anniversaries, death dates, etc.?
Truth – Christian Science, revealing the ideal man
Verse 7 – “But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel [the little babe], when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.” [My interpolation.]
Verses 8 & 9 – “Then is the power of Truth demonstrated—made manifest in the destruction of error. Then will a voice from harmony cry: ‘Go and take this little book. …Take it, and eat it up: and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.’ Mortals, obey the heavenly evangel.’ (S&H 559:14-20) “The ‘little book’ which Truth demands that we take is the right idea of the manhood and womanhood of God, which to-day we know as Christian Science. Science, afterwards embodied in her chapter ‘Recapitulation,’ was called ‘The Science of Man.’
St. John is told to take the little book and eat it up, mentally digest it and use it to cast out demons, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and raise the dead. Reading the book is sweet, but demonstrating its Principle is bitter for it demands discipline. John takes the book and accepts its message completely. This is an important point – John is to prophecy about this little book, with the prophecy that is the book of Revelation, to all mankind, to all nations and to all languages and governments.
“The sixth period prepares thought for the final revelation of divine Science, contained in the ‘little book’ and no longer to be hidden.” Doorly, of course, believes that what was hidden is the scientific system of Christian Science. While this may be true, because many do not see this system when they read the Textbook, what was really hidden is the Truth about the feminine representative of Christ. Mary Baker Eddy did not hide the seven synonymous terms for God, she did not hide the infinite divine calculus or the four levels of Science – they are found in her TEXTBOOK. But Mary Baker Eddy did have to hide her place in Bible prophecy from the public. It was this hidden message about her importance that she was afraid would be lost if she hid it more than she already had. Revelation’s major focal point (capstone Vision) is about the woman God-crowned which tells us that this is why the book of Revelation was written in the first place, to reveal (uncover) the place of the woman in Bible prophecy. Yet most Christian Scientists seem to be oblivious to this very fact! Mary Baker Eddy spoke about Jesus being God-crowned. This being said, by her, means that the woman God-crowned must be the second coming of Christ. Mary Baker Eddy ties the woman God-crowned (“the spiritual ideal as a woman clothed in light”) to the angel “standing in the sun” (of an upcoming prophecy) and to (also upcoming) “a bride coming down from heaven, wedded to the Lamb of Love.” (S&H 561:11, 8, and 13) Over on page 562:3-7 she writes, “As Elias presented the idea of the fatherhood of God, which Jesus afterwards manifested, so the Revelator completed the figure with woman, typifying the spiritual idea of God’s motherhood.” Now Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary gives a definition of the word type as: “a person or thing (as in the Old Testament) believed to foreshadow another (as in the New Testament).” With this in mind we can say that Elias (in the Old Testament) typifies, foreshadows, Jesus (in the New Testament) who manifests the spiritual idea of God’s fatherhood, thus the woman God-crowned (in the New Testament) typifies, foreshadows, Mary Baker Eddy (in the 18th Century) who manifests the spiritual idea of God’s motherhood.
Love – the universal and impartial
Verses 10 & 11 – The “tone of Love is universal and impartial.” “Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter. When you approach nearer and nearer to the divine Principle, when you eat the divine body of this Principle, — thus partaking of the nature, or primal elements, of Truth and Love, — do not be surprised nor discontented because you must share the hemlock cup and eat the bitter herbs; for the Israelites of old at the Paschal meal thus prefigured this perilous passage out of bondage into the El Dorado of faith and hope.’ (S&H 559:20-31)”
This seems to make it clear that because we are in the tone of Love, that it is the seventh angel during the Seventh Day of Love who represents the right foot of divine Science.
This endtime must come during the days of the seventh angel (Love), when she will blow her trumpet and sound the final message of Truth. This is when all is finished, the mystery of God and the infinite good of the little book shall be revealed in fulfillment of prophecy. It is not yet the Day for the seventh angel in Revelation, but the fact that she is mentioned in this interlude is of importance, because it is the seventh angel that reveals the Truth, about the two Christ missions as being wed and united, to the world-wide-web.
Chapter 11 – the second gift and the two witnesses
Chapter 11 is about the second gift and the two witnesses. After SCIENCE AND HEALTH is given to the world then comes a reed like unto a rod (Aaron’s rod that buds and blooms). This reed is a standard of measurement, a Holy Grail. In the final season of Stargate SG-1 the Holy Grail is a ruby stone (a symbol of the infinite divine calculus). Mary Baker Eddy’s birthstone is the ruby. John is to rise up and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein (verse 1). All those who are willing to sacrifice material self, according to the standard of Jesus’ teachings, and the words in SCIENCE AND HEALTH, are to be measured (appraised) and governed by divine Science (the reed like unto a rod). This rod was given to the manchild in Revelation 12 (Vision IV).
Verse 1 – “‘a reed like unto a rod’—the divine system, which enables thought to measure or compute and also state accurately the ideas of God. (See S&H 84:30-1; 129:1-4; 112:16-22, 32-3; 496:15-19; 108:12-18; 341:11-16.) ‘Reed’ signifies papyrus.” A reed can also refer to a writing pen. Is not the pen of Mary Baker Eddy a gift to mankind? Likewise, if reed also means “papyrus” then is not the paper the pen wrote upon also God’s gift to mankind?
I feel that the two gifts belong to the second witness, Mary Baker Eddy, for the two gifts are the little book open and the rod (pen and paper of the book). Mary Baker Eddy also says about Revelation 12, that the rod given to the manchild is divine Science. She basically asks us, “Is not the little open book divine Science?”
Verse 1 cont. – “‘Rise, and measure the temple of God’—one of Webster’s definitions of ‘measure’ reads ‘To adjust or estimate by a rule or standard,’ and Mrs. Eddy defines ‘Temple,’ in part, as ‘Body; the idea of Life, substance, and intelligence; the superstructure of Truth; the shrine of Love’ (S&H 595:7-9). There are only two records of measuring in Revelation, of which one is here and the other in Chapter 21, verse 15, where it is the city foursquare which is to be measured. Here John is computing accurately with the numerals of consciousness, but there he is computing accurately by means of the four-dimensional calculus.” It seems possible then that the angel doing the measuring is the one who comes at the tail end of the Sixth Day of Truth and begins her God-crowned mission at the beginning of the Seventh Day of Love (June 6, 1996) when the seventh seal is opened.
“The fact is assured that the temple of God (originally situated in the city of Jerusalem), symbolizes the realization of the Oneness of Deity. As Ezekiel said, ‘The name of the city from that day shall be The Lord is there.’”
Verse 2 – “‘the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles’—the Gentiles represented to the Hebrews that state of thought which would not understand the things of God. Don’t try to measure mortal mind; you can’t. You can measure through divine system that which is true, but it is futile even to attempt to measure that which is unlike the divine, because it has no system and no Science.
“The ‘court which is without the temple’ is explained in the last part of Mrs. Eddy’s definition of ‘Temple’: ‘a material superstructure, where mortals congregate for worship’ (S&H 595:9-10). (See also S&H 132:14-20 and 88:20-25.)”
“Must Christian Science come through the Christian churches as some persons insist? This Science has come already, after the manner of God’s appointing, but the churches’—and remember the Christian Science church is one of the Christian churches—‘seem not ready to receive it, according to the Scriptural saying, “He came unto his own, and his own received him not”’ (S&H 131:13-18). Many churches are just institutions or organizations run by human beings who generally like running them and regard the running of them as an end in itself; those people are neither ready nor willing to accept the impersonality of Science, which makes being essentially individual. When it is recognized that Truth is of the nature of Science and individuality, then religious organizations will become superfluous.”
The unbelievers, who are like the Gentiles in the outer court of the temple, are not to be measured or deemed worthy, because they do not understand the Christ consciousness, nor will they be ready for it, “only those who understood the full significance of the worship or the understanding of the truth about God were to be judged according to this standard of measurement, ‘the reed like a rod.’ Those in the court of the gentiles, who represented the ignorant, unwilling, apathetic, materialistic thought, were not to come under this standard of measurement. In fact, it would be absolutely unjust to think of such a thing until materialistic unbelief had changed.”
Verse 2 cont. – “‘forty and two months’—one of the many symbols in the Scriptures of that state of thought which goes the ‘three-and-a-half’ of Mind, Spirit, Soul, and a little sense of Principle, but goes no further, and finally dies on itself, instead of going on to see how Principle demonstrates itself as Life, Truth, and Love. ‘Let there be light,’ ‘Let there be purity and development,’ and ‘Let there be definiteness’ symbolize the process by which thought approaches divine Principle, the essential nature of which is Life, Truth, and Love. Mind, Spirit, and Soul are synonymous terms for God which show us how the divine nature operates as light, a firmament, and dry land, and also how God’s ideal of Himself—Life, Truth, and Love—is translated down to the point of manifestation in Mind, but the essential nature of Principle is Life, Truth, and Love.”
In verse two it mentions the holy city, and that the Gentiles shall “tread under foot forty and two months (3.5 years). The number 3.5 represents Mind (1), Spirit (2), and Soul (3), while the half way mark gets one to the point of Principle (4) it never gets one over the mountain to see what there is to see with Life, Truth, and Love. Those who do not spiritually understand (see) are stuck and do not seem to be able to progress spiritually.
It is in verse 3 that God gives power unto His two witnesses – who I accept, as do other Christian Scientists, to be Jesus Christ and Mary Baker Eddy. Some Christian Scientists believe that these two witnesses are also the two books of the BIBLE and SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES.
Verse 3 – “‘my two witnesses’—the manhood and womanhood of God. Mrs. Eddy writes, ‘I did say that a man would be my future successor [in fifty years]. By this I did not mean any man to-day on earth [because she will come in fifty years time; this also counts out Doorly as being her successor because he was on earth at the time she made this statement to the Newspaper]. Science and Health makes it plain to all Christian Scientists that the manhood and womanhood of God have already been revealed in a degree through Christ Jesus and [Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer of] Christian Science, His two witnesses. [Do you see how she had to hide the Truth about her true identity?] What remains to lead on the centuries and reveal [uncover] my successor, is man in the image and likeness of the Father-Mother God, man the generic term for mankind’ (My. 346:27-347:5; [My interpolations.]). (See also Mis. 382:32-3; S&H 561:32-7 [to first period].)” Mary Baker Eddy did not say that generic man was specifically her “successor” but rather that generic man would uncover, would explain to mankind, who her successor is.
“Each one of us expresses individually the manhood and womanhood of God. Some of us express the fatherhood of God more distinctly, and in others the motherhood of God is more pronounced. Just as every color is some blending of the three primary colors, red, blue, and yellow, and in one color red may be more pronounced, and in another blue, and in another yellow, so every idea of God’s reflects the divine fatherhood and motherhood, but in some ideas the fatherhood is more pronounced, and in others the motherhood. Both, however, are essentially present, and that constitutes the man and woman of God’s creating. Whatever you reflect of the fatherhood and motherhood of God is available to every other idea. Every idea knows your own reflection of fatherhood and motherhood in a way in which you don’t know it yourself. You can appreciate my knowing of you by reflection, but each one of us is individual, and the concept which every idea has of every other idea is an individual concept. No two ideas of God ever have the same concept of anything, because being is infinite.”
While what Doorly says is true, this does not mean that Mary Baker Eddy’s successor, which would be the Christ idea, does not come as a certain individual, just as Jesus came as the first advent of Christ and Mary Baker Eddy came as the second advent of Christ. So, there must be a third advent of Christ, and Mary Baker Eddy gave the name “Martha” for this third advent of Christ. Why did she give this third advent of Christ a feminine name instead of a masculine name? Because she knew that her successor would be the full expression of “Mother Hood,” and this is the name that God gave to me in a vision dream I had in 2011.
Verse 3 cont. – “‘they shall prophecy a thousand two hundred and three-score days’—again the ‘three-and-a-half.’ They will prophecy to that state of thought which accepts Mind, Spirit, and Soul, and which just touches Principle. I believe that is exactly what Mrs. Eddy had to do. She was longing for her movement [I think she preferred the word “Cause”] to know God as He really is, — divine Principle, Life, Truth, and Love, — but she had to ‘prophesy’ to them at that time mainly in terms of Mind, Spirit, Soul, and Principle (in a small degree), because that was all that thought could accept then. She left a textbook, however, which presents God not only as Mind, Spirit, Soul, and Principle, but also as Life, Truth, and Love, and the essential nature of God will be more and more clearly seen as we progress spiritually.”
Verse 3 cont. – “clothed in sackcloth”—“I shall not forget the cost of investigating, for this age, the methods and power of error. While the ways, means, and potency of Truth had flowed into my consciousness as easily as dawns the morning light and shadows flee, the metaphysical mystery of error — its hidden paths, purpose, and fruits — at first defied me. I was saying all the time, ‘Come not thou into the secret’—but at length took up the research according to God’s command.” (Mis 222:29-223:5)
Is not the dark dress that Mary Baker Eddy is clothed in, as we see her in SEEKING AND FINDING, this sackcloth?
“For Christian Science brings to view
The great I Am, —
Omniscient power, — gleaming through
Mind, mother, man.
As in blest Palestina’s hour,
So in our age,
‘T is the same [Christ] hand unfolds His power,
And writes the page.” [My interpolation.]
How many Christian Scientists notice this last line of the poem? She is basically telling us that it is the same hand of Christ that unfolds (reveals) God’s power and writes the pages of the BIBLE and SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES.
Verse 4 – “‘the two olive trees’—the Bible and ‘Science and Health.’ From those ‘olive trees’ comes the oil of inspiration and consecration.” Doorly wants to depersonalize Christian Science, but it is of importance that we do not cut out the Christ Shepherd (Jesus) and Christ Leader (Mary Baker Eddy) from this Verse as being the two olive trees. Scripture tells us that the two olive trees are the two witnesses. We have already established that the two witnesses are Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy. These two olive trees are also the two candlesticks of Soul and Spirit that have the two Star-Angels of Life (the fatherhood of God) and Truth (the sonship of God, which includes both manhood and womanhood). And the perfect Christ and Christmas Illustration that presents these two witnesses is CHRISTIAN UNITY. (See also Zech 4:1-14 and My 238:2-239:11)
Zechariah’s vision saw these two candlesticks. They are two sources of spiritual illumination ever present, as they stand before God. There are two lamp stands (seven branched candlesticks) that have appeared together in the Holy Temple’s Woman’s Court (these two candlesticks are seen in the TV movie Killing Jesus). Yet there is the Golden Candlestick found in the Inner Court of the Tabernacle and later on in the Temple, a symbol for Life (Jesus came during the Fifth Day of Life). This means that there are three Golden Candlesticks, two of which were placed in the Woman’s Court. So, what does this mean? Could these two candlesticks of the Woman’s Court prefigure the two female Sentinels?
Hoyt thinks that the two gifts are the two witnesses. She says, “Verse 3 of chapter 11 tells us that ‘the little book open’ and the ‘reed like a rod’ are the two witnesses who bring about this change.” To be honest, verse 3 says nothing of the kind! I am not sure how she draws this conclusion that the two gifts are the two witnesses, because a witness, also called a martyr, is someone who visually sees something and gives testimony to it, and they are often tortured (martyred). Can books have vision? Can books be tortured? They can be misused, like tools are misused, and it does seem as if the Christian Science Board of Directors, with their Mother Church, have misused both the TEXTBOOK and Church Manual to further their agenda. Sackcloth was worn as a sign of mourning or penitence. Do books mourn or give penitence? Mary Baker Eddy tells us simply that the two witnesses are Christ Jesus and Christian Science. Since she tells us Christian Science is a witness she might mean that there are two Golden Candlesticks (as in the Woman’s Court) that are actually twin witnesses of Christian Science. They both are sentinels.
One more important note is one of Hoyt’s footnotes which reads: “The Greek word ‘calamus’ is both ‘pen’ and ‘measuring rod.’ Farrer: Rebirth of Images, p. 44.” If this is so, then is not possible that the measuring rod (the second gift) is the pen of the author of SCIENCE AND HEALTH? It would make sense that the two gifts given to us from God are the angel’s book that is written by the angel’s pen! And this is vital information before we approach Vision IV with the all-important woman God-crowned.
The chapter “Recapitulation” was based upon Mary Baker Eddy’s first penned writing Science of Man. Science of Man was her teaching manuscript for Christian Science and it was written before the little book was published in 1875.
And the two witnesses will prophecy for forty-two months while clothed in sackcloth. Are they meant to prophecy to the Gentiles for 3.5 years to get them up to the point of Principle, so that they can be measured in Vision VII? What does it mean that they will prophecy? Mary Baker Eddy defines “prophet” as – “A spiritual seer; disappearance of material sense before the conscious facts of spiritual Truth.” (S&H 593:4) Would not the forty-two months be an indefinite time when Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy are working as one Christ to make all material sense disappear before the conscious facts of spiritual Truth?
Hoyt writes (pages 67 and 68): “But now we come to an amazing statement. Never previously in the Bible have we found two seven-branched golden lampstands presented together in the holy place of the Tent of Meeting. [Again, Verse 4 does not state it like this. It says that the two witnesses, the two candlesticks are “standing before the God of the earth.” This, to me, does not specify their location, but rather that they mentally STAND with God in all their ways, or as Hoyt herself says further on, that the two witnesses “stand supreme with power to purify and correct all false conditions even through tribulation.”] And yet we are told that these two witnesses, which are the two olive trees feeding the lamps, are also the two candle sticks or lampstands. In other words, there are now two sources of spiritual illumination instead of one. Another statement about the witnesses connects them with the two greatest Old Testament prophets. ‘Power to shut heaven’ is a reference to Elijah and ‘Power over waters to turn them to blood’ is a reference to Moses. In both instances John is not referring to the actual prophets but to the qualities which they express. It was Moses and Elijah who stood with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration as Moses and Elijah had the ability to prove their understanding of the truth, so the two witnesses also are credited with that ability.”
“The rest of this interlude tells how these two witnesses are persecuted and left for dead upon the city streets.”
Verse 5 informs us that any attempt to think evil thoughts about these two witnesses or to hurt the two witnesses is nullified by God. The evil practitioner’s mental malpractice rebounds to cause the destruction of the evil itself.
Verse 5 – “‘if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies’—they will bless their enemies by purifying them. (See also S&H 560:24-561:1 and 542:18-26.)”
Verse 5 cont. – “‘if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed’—misconception of Truth is all that will perish.” This means that those who attack Christ Jesus or Mary Baker Eddy, slanders them in any way, that it is their misconception about them that is destroyed by Truth. The Truth about Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy can never be destroyed or lost.
Verse 6 makes it clear that the two witnesses stand supreme with power to purify and correct all false conditions even through tribulation.
Verse 6 – “‘power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy’—power to prevent inspiration coming to thought that is not ready to receive it. Matthew records that in a certain district Jesus ‘did not many mighty works…because of their unbelief.’ (See also I Kings 17:1; S&H 570:18-25.)” These two witnesses “stand supreme with power to purify and correct all false conditions even through tribulation.” (SAJP, Edyth Armstrong Hoyt, p. 175)
Verse 6 cont. – “‘power over waters to turn them to blood’ [remember Moses did this] — power to give life to the elements of thought. (See Exodus 4:9, 7:19; No. 34:18-10.)”
Verse 6 cont. – “‘and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will’—Truth always brings a sword to mortal belief, and it appears to mortal belief (but only to mortal belief) as ‘plagues.’”
Verse 7 – “The ‘beast’ which kills the message of Truth to human apprehension is the personalizing element of man thinking, — that which killed for nearly nineteen hundred years the significance of Jesus’ mission as the demonstration of Science, and that which to-day tries to hide the fact that Mrs. Eddy’s revelation is exact Science. The belief is that it can keep hidden the manhood and womanhood of God. (See also S&H 102:16-23; My. 211:12-212:3; S&H 564:10-12 and 52:29-53:2.)” So the man God-crowned mission was the demonstration of Science (to not write a book) while the woman God-crowned mission was the revelation (the uncovering) of Science (to write a book). However, the woman was also capable of demonstrating Science. In one instance the beast deifies Jesus, a man, insisting that he is God while in the second instance the beast persecutes Mary Baker Eddy, a woman, saying that to understand and claim her place in Bible prophecy is deification, therefore, it is not allowed. The beast that makes these two false claims (attempts to kill the two witnesses) practices ecclesiastical despotism in a material organization.
“A beast (Greek, Therion [bestiality]) ascending from the bottomless pit of destruction and symbolizing the resistance to Truth found in human domination and beliefs (which we shall see expressed by the diagram of Vision IV), appears to overcome the two witnesses.” In verse 7 the beast of domination and malpractice seems to overcome the two witnesses with persecution, followed by death, just as Jesus experienced what is termed death. Mary Baker Eddy was also persecuted although most of the world does not understand this point. Her “so-called” death came because her followers were disobedient to the Law; they accepted that she must die from old age and that she did die from old age. However, those who did the autopsy on the material body could not find a cause of death! They said that Mary Baker Eddy’s arteries were like that of a young woman in her thirties.
These two witnesses are “left lying deserted and dead in a state of public disgrace and misunderstanding. Indeed they had come under the antagonism of the same type of materialistic thought which Sodom [male homosexuality – men who hate Womanhood] and Egypt [material organization of church] signify in our Old Scriptures.” “The beast resistance is not able to overcome them however, for they rise in resurrection, in the power of the Spirit, and are lifted up in ascension to be completely protected and established. You will recognize that Jesus also experienced these same steps as he rose to his complete communion in ascension.”
Verse 8 – “‘Sodom’ symbolizes sensuality, and ‘Egypt’ symbolizes darkness. (See also S&H 564:19-23, 65:13-16, 595:25-26.)” Egypt also symbolizes material organization, or the material body. It was our Lord’s material body that was crucified.
All people of the world will see their dead bodies for a period of 3.5 days, and will not allow their dead bodies to be buried in graves (verse 9). The evil men believe that the two witnesses have been put away, or are out of sight of mankind, but their existence, their bodies that actually LIVE, cannot be annihilated.
Actually, Mary Baker Eddy appeared to die to the mortal minded personas of earth, but in reality she did not die. In fact, on December 3, 1910, her “death date” as it would be called, three of her household workers saw their Leader standing next to the corpse, and she was seen the following day by two other women. There was also a mysterious woman in black with a veil over her face at the January 1911 burial of her coffin. No women were invited to the ceremony, the one woman who worked with the mortuary was thought to be the woman, but she denied that it was. The gate had been locked. So who was this woman? I know she was Mary Baker Eddy. How did the woman get into the cemetery? If she could pass through a wall (as witnessed by the two women on December 4th) then a fence or gate would not be able to keep her out.
Verse 9 – “Materialistic thought doesn’t want Science; it doesn’t want to realize the ‘three-and-a-half’ of divine Principle, Life, Truth, and Love; it only wants outworn religious beliefs.”
“Until belief [First Degree] becomes faith [Second Degree], and faith becomes spiritual understanding [Third Degree], human thought [Second Degree] has little relation to the actual or divine [Third Degree].” (S&H 297:28-31; [My interpolations.])
Verse 10 – “‘make merry’—to quote Christ and Christmas (which is for Illustration 4 – CHRISTMAS EVE):
“For heaven’s Christus, earthly Eves,
By Adam bid,
Make merriment on Christmas eves,
O’er babe and crib’”
Adam and Eve are the opposite of Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy.

Verse 11 – “The ‘three-and-a-half’ of divine Principle, Life, Truth, and Love was now demonstrated.”
Verse 11 cont. – “they stood upon their feet’—Mrs. Eddy says, ‘Metaphysics, not physics, enables us to stand erect on sublime heights, surveying the immeasurable universe of Mind, peering into the cause which governs all effects, while we are strong in the unity of God and man’ (Mis. 369:7-10). (See also S&H 593:9-11, 43:12-20, 24:32-25:2.)”
And everyone who is a material thinker rejoices because they believe that God’s two witnesses, who have tormented them, are forever dead. But after the three and a half years the two witnesses stand upon their feet, in the resurrection of the two witnesses, for they were buried in dogma. Great fear falls upon them (fear takes hold upon those who have gloated over their death).
Verse 12 – “‘they ascended up to heaven in a cloud’—they ascended to the realization of Life, Truth, and Love, but to mortal sense that ascension was ‘in a cloud,’ it was not understood. (See also S&H 34:18-28.)” While this makes sense, we cannot forget that the cloud is the symbol of the coming and going for God’s divine messengers (angel messengers).
In verse 12 the “prophets of Truth hear a great voice from heaven say ‘Come Up!’ and they rose from the mist of misunderstanding, into the heaven of understanding, completeness and dominion and their enemies beheld them.”
Verse 13 tells us that there is a great earthquake, a tenth part of the city falls, and seven thousand men are slain while the remnant were affrighted giving glory to God. Instantaneously there is a great upheaval “of thought and those who had not been willing to repent were awed, finally acknowledging that the Kingdom of God, heaven, is divine, and shall never be destroyed, but stand forever, (Dan. 2:44).”
Verse 13 – “Now we come to the second woe. Mrs. Eddy describes this process of chemicalization when she says, ‘Mortal error will vanish in a moral chemicalization. This mental fermentation has begun, and will continue until all errors of belief yield to understanding. Belief is changeable, but spiritual understanding is changeless’ (S&H 96:21-24).”
The second woe has passed. I feel that the second woe is the false beliefs that religious theology has placed upon their “fallen” man. The woman, who is misidentified by Adam when he gives her the name Eve, has been given the God-crowned mission to give birth to the spiritual ideal, and she is to step upon the serpent’s head which bites at her heel. This serpent is seen behind Mary Baker Eddy in SEEKING AND FINDING. Mary Baker Eddy unmasked animal magnetism (the ways of the serpent, the red dragging-on of scholastic theology and dogma (human opinion) through ecclesiastical despotism.
Verse 13 cont. – “‘the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand’—[with the second coming of Christ, the Sixth Angel,] the testimony of the physical senses [the serpent] fell, and the false sense of manhood disappeared.” Why? It is because Mary Baker Eddy stepped upon the head of the serpent and unmasked animal magnetism.
And finally, in verse 14, the “second woe is past; and behold the third woe cometh quickly.” Does it come quickly because the second woe in the Sixth Day of Truth is followed within 100 years with the third woe in the Seventh Day of Love? The end of the interlude “announced that the recognition of the complete dominion of God and His Christ completely destroys all phases of wrong thinking. Thus the spiritual understanding of the relationship of God and man, the recognition of complete spiritual dominion, is a third and final woe to materialism.”
Verse 14 – “The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.” This simply means that it does not take long after December 3, 1910 for the Seventh Angel to come, this time period is fifty years, for Mary Baker Eddy’s successor.
Doorly finishes the Interlude with, “this sixth trumpet has not only uncovered the false sense of manhood [Adam], but it has also uncovered in a most wonderful way the true sense of man, — the manhood and womanhood of God’s creating.”
TRUTH reflecting SOUL in the tone of LOVE declares the TRUTH – (Chapter 11, Verses 15-18, with the Third Woe handling materia medica)
The Seventh Trumpet coincides, time wise, with Donald John Trump
We have the third Branch-Church Candlestick of TRUTH reflecting the third Star-Angel of SOUL (Moses) along with the seventh Star-Angel of LOVE (Mother Hood) sounding the seventh trumpet [of TRUTH]. Even though Mary Baker Eddy unmasked animal magnetism, there is still more exposure that must take place in the Seventh Day of Love, with our Seventh Angel – Dinah or Martha. What is the error that must be exposed by Dinah or Martha? It is the red dragon’s tricks and its lies about the second coming of Christ – Mary Baker Eddy. These lies arise after December 3, 1910, due to disobedience to her Church Manual estoppel clauses and By-Laws.
In verse 15 we have the seventh angel (Love) speaking the final declaration of Truth. There is great rejoicing because it is understood that earth is one with heaven – that man and God is One. And “he shall reign for ever and ever.”
The twenty-four elders, the interpreters of authority, expressed spiritual dominion and humility and worship God. They say, “We thank thee, O Lord God Almighty, that thou art infinite and all powerful, reigning supreme.”
Verse 15 – “gives the tone of Truth as Love, — manhood embosomed in divine Love. (See also S&H 97:26-28 and 568:24-30.)”
Verse 16 – The twenty-four elders fall upon their faces and worship God.
Verse 17 – They give thanks to God, “which art, and wast, and art to come”.
“Mrs. Eddy gives the spiritual import of verses 16 and 17 when she writes, ‘Christianity will never be based on a divine Principle and so found to be unerring, until its absolute Science is reached. When this is accomplished neither pride, prejudice, bigotry, nor envy can wash away its foundation, for it is built upon the rock, Christ’ (S&H 483:32-5). (See also Ret. 93:4-13.)”
Verse 18 – In this Verse the twelve (really thirteen) nations of Israel are angry. “Science often suffers [permits] blame through the sheer ignorance of people, while envy and hatred bark and bite at its heels. A man’s inability to heal, on the Principle of Christian Science, substantiates his ignorance of its Principle and practice, and incapacitates him for correct comment. This failure should make him modest.
“Christian Science involves a new language, and a higher demonstration of medicine and religion.” (No 43:26-44:5)
“Let the Word have free course and be glorified. The people clamor to leave cradle and swaddling-clothes. The spiritual status is urging its highest demands on mortals, and material history is drawing to a close.” (No 45:24-27)
But those (verse 18) who do not as yet understand “the complete dominion of God and His Christ still rebelled against this Truth, yet for those who reverence God, the prophets, the spiritual thinkers, and all mankind, small and great who love Him—for them, all phases of materialism will be completely self-destroyed.”
“Step by step the declarations of Truth have started the self-destruction of all material thinking. This vision then is like an opening wedge. The work has been started and is under way! These declarations of Truth have prepared the way for the climax or fourth vision, namely, the revelation and establishment of the fullness of the Christ.”
Verse 19 – “‘the ark of his testament’—Mrs. Eddy presents the spiritual interpretation of this in the last question and answer of ‘Recapitulation.’ (See S&H 496:28-497:27.) Here she gives the tenets of Christian Science [also found in the Church Manual]. The first tenet illustrates the Word, the second and third illustrate the Christ, and the last three illustrate Christianity. ‘Recapitulation’ ends ‘Science and Health,’ and the ‘Key to the Scriptures’ which follows contains the divine system. In the twelfth chapter of Revelation, which we are just coming to, that system and its appearing is symbolized by the child born to the woman. Mrs. Eddy says, ‘To one “born of the flesh”…divine Science must be a discovery. Woman must give it birth’ (Ret. 26:22-23), and this twelfth chapter shows how woman gives birth to Science. You remember that Mrs. Eddy puts at the very beginning of her ‘Key to the Scriptures’ this quotation, ‘These things saith He that is holy, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it.’ When you have touched the hem of Science and have understood something of the divine system which reveals God and the infinite calculus of God’s ideas, then the door to spiritual attainment is open to you, and no one can shut it.”
SCIENCE AND HEALTH does not end with “Recapitulation.” Mary Baker Eddy wants us to accept that the whole book of SCIENCE AND HEALTH is the KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES.
What is the third woe? Medicine. Materia medica has been raising a ruckus the past twenty years. There are prescription medicines being advertised on TV day and night, and these commercials last way longer than other commercials do. They go on and on and on with their brainwashing techniques, but then they make it even worse by describing the disease the medicine is supposed to help with, and even worse, they describe said medicine’s side effects! Which sound worse than the so-called disease!
Truth be told, doctors do not want these commercials to even be on TV, it is the pharmaceutical companies that want them aired. The reason why doctors want them off the air is because they have patients coming in swearing that they have the diseases mentioned on the commercials. The patient is self-diagnosing their ails.
Drugs are out of control; people get hooked on prescription drugs and then turn to the streets for heroine or some other drug. Marijuana use is up, and many people look upon it as being accepted and non-dangerous (even those holding government offices). Newer drugs seem to pop up over and over, with a new name to identify it.
Then there are the medical businesses where the drugs themselves are outrageously priced – hospital bills are ridiculous. I feel this is because the insurance companies were willing to pay outrageous fees to them. And that gets us to the fact that the Federal Government wants to control everybody’s medical needs through enforced insurance with Obama care, or whatever the politicians want to call it. America, and the rest of the world, is drowning in medical issues and drug problems because they refuse to wake up and turn to God. The churches have misled the people, they say, if you are sick you can pray but it’s better to try and take a medicine for your sickness! It is okay to mix your prayers and medicine; God does not care. But God does care.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” This is the first Commandment, the most important one! Yet, how many people treat their medicine and doctors as gods? If you believe that medicine has power to heal you then you treat it as a god. If you believe that your doctor has the wisdom to cure your ails by giving you a diagnosis and medicine to treat it, then your doctor is your god. And I have met doctors who act like they are gods! And how many Christian Scientists treat their practitioners as if they are gods and how many Christian Science practitioners act like a god (being the one who decides if their patient deserves their treatments by giving the patient the third degree inquisition about if they take vitamins or if they attend church every week, or read the Bible lessons)?
Revelation 11 does not state that the third woe has been worked out, it does not say it is past before moving on to Vision IV. Why not? It is because the red dragon’s tricks must first be taken care of before the woe of medicine can pass away.
Hoyt says: “When the fourth [Vision] has been presented, the fifth, sixth and seventh are made possible.” Even so it is also important to be able to see how VISION I correlates with VISION VII, II with VI, and III with V. Hoyt agrees, as she says in the same paragraph: “Knowing that the third point always balances with the fifth point in Hebrew literature, we shall expect, therefore, to find something in the fifth vision which will make possible the complete self-destruction of all materialism or resistance to the Truth.” She explains why VISION IV is of importance, before we go to VISION V, VI, and VII, is because VISION IV gives us “a full knowledge or understanding of freedom” being realized, this enables “false concepts” to be completely “obliterated. Therefore, something else must be presented before the complete self-destruction of materialism is possible.”
