Chapter 6 –  Jacob’s Spiritual Footsteps of Truth Works Out the Dualistic Nature in Man

2nd tone of 3rd period – Soul as Spirit –

Christianity in the tone of the Word

The 5th minor star – the Lord and Lamb Keystone – “Creation”

Genesis 25:19-21 – And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son:  Abraham begat Isaac:  And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.  And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren [as Sarah had been]:  and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

“Isaac’s two sons, Jacob and Esau, lie entwined [tied; remember what Rebekah means?] in their mother’s womb.  This opening moment of the Jacob saga pinpoints its entire theme, which is the imperative need on the part of Jacob to solve the delicate, intricate problem of his relationship with his twin brother.  Science and Health speaks of disentangling the ‘interlaced ambiguities of being,’ and setting free the imprisoned thought (S&H 114:26).  Unless this is done in the case of Jacob and Esau; unless Jacob proves, through translation, what his relationship with his brother really is, we cannot arrive at what Joseph symbolizes, which is the absolute supremacy of universal Science of man supplying the needs of mankind.
“The old Testament (Word) prepares the way for the Gospels (Christ), similarly, the Christian Church (Christianity, leading to the Church of Christ, Scientist) prepares the way for today’s nonsectarian Science of being (Science), or the truth about generic man.  All this is foreshadowed in the present patriarchal story by the way in which Abraham prepares the way for Isaac, and Jacob prepares the way for Joseph.  The seed which is sown in consciousness in the form of these four sagas is, as we have seen, the spiritual embryo of the eventual full fruition of the Word, Christ, Christianity, Science.  No wonder there comes the promise to each patriarch in turn:  In thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
“‘Spirit names and blesses.’  This caption to the second tone of the third day of creation gives the essence of Soul as Spirit (S&H 506:27).  The idea of being spiritually named and spiritually blessed is likewise at the heart of the story of Jacob.”[1]

Genesis 25:22 – And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus?  And she went to inquire of the Lord.  And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

Which people become stronger?  It has to be the people of Jacob, or Israel, because Spirit is the only strength there is.  The other people (material Esau) shall serve the younger (the spiritual).

Genesis 25:24 – And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

There is dualism within the matrix womb.

Genesis 25:25 – And the first came out red, all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

The color red goes back to Adam, made of the red clay, or red mud.  The serpent that was coiled around the trunk of the tree of knowledge is also red (copper?) because it becomes the red dragon of Revelation.
Esau means, “hairy; hirsute; rough; shaggy.”  He represents the physical vigor, the material body of the animalistic nature (hairy).  He is easily moved by desire, appetite, and passion.  He was willing to sell his birthright for a mess of pottage.

Genesis 25:26 – And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob:  And Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

The number forty symbolizes spiritual rebirth, however, twenty years pass from the time that Rebekah comes to be with Isaac before the birth of his twin-son actually takes place.  Isaac’s journey is symbolic of the six days of Genesis 1, each decade representing one day to him.
Jacob is to rule over Esau.  Jacob means, “heel catcher; lier in wait; supplanter; leaving behind; bringing to an end; recompensing; rewarding.”  A supplanter is a substitute, so Jacob is the substitute of the animalistic (Esau) in man’s consciousness.  What does the heel really symbolize?  It is the base of the ladder, of Jacob’s “so-called” ladder, or his spiritual footsteps of Truth that he follows throughout his spiritual journey.
“From the beginning, Jacob must handle the serpent of material sense (the belief that man has a split identity [symbolized as twins]) which will otherwise impede his [spiritual] progress.”[2]  Remember, it is the woman who must overcome the serpent that tries to impede her spiritual progress.  So Jacob represents the womanhood of God, that which is to fulfill the Arch Covenant in the Sixth Day of Truth.  “At all costs Esau must be prevented from taking the initiative.”[3]

Jacob.  A corporeal mortal embracing duplicity, repentance, sensualism.  Inspiration; the revelation of Science, in which the so-called material senses yield to the spiritual sense of Life and Love.” (S&H 589:4)

Genesis 25:27 – And the boys grew:  and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field:  and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

Jacob dwells mentally in the subjective idea that is spiritual Church (tents), while Esau is out searching for his spirituality in his objective viewpoint (in the relative world), but will he ever find it without his brother’s help?  No, even if he is a cunning hunter (seeker for Truth).

Genesis 25:28 – And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison:  but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Perhaps Isaac really loved Esau’s skills of hunting and perusal of the meat?

Genesis 25:29-34 – And Jacob sod pottage:  and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:  And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint:  therefore was his name called Edom.  And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.  And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die:  and what profit shall this birthright do to me?  And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him:  and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.  Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way:  thus Esau despised his birthright.

Jacob is ambitious – zealous for the things of God.  He thinks that the ends justify the means and steals his brother’s name, or birthright, and also the paternal blessing.  “To prevent the Hebriac ideal from being corrupted at the hands of Esau he even assumes Esau’s identity, and subtly deceives his father Isaac.  But this apparently egocentric behaviour is only temporary.  It yields in the course of the story to a totally new outlook on life.  Named with the new name of Israel, and blessed spiritually beyond anything that matter can give.  Jacob learns not to fear and hate his brother but to behold him as the face of God.  He learns to love him as himself.  He becomes in the end ‘the revelation of Science, in which the so-called material senses yield to the spiritual sense of Life and Love’ (“Jacob” – S&H 589:4).”[4]

Interlude:  Rebekah in a foreign palace; pact with foreigners (Gen. 26:1-34)

There is a famine in the land like the one in Abraham’s day.  Isaac goes to king Abimelech of the philistines unto Gerar.  And God comes to Isaac and tells him not to go down into Egypt (material bondage) but to mentally dwell in the land that God would tell him of.   So Isaac remained in Gerar.  For now, Isaac must depend upon material sustenance.
Again, Isaac repeats his father’s actions when in a strange land.  He tells the men that his wife is his sister.  Of course the king sees the married couple fooling around and inquires of Isaac why he lied about his wife.  He gives the response, “Because I said, Lest I die for her.”  So Abimelech charges all his people not to harm Isaac or his wife or they would be put to death.
Then Isaac sowed in the land, and received in the same year an hundred-fold:  and the Lord blessed him.  And Isaac grew very wealthy.  And the king told him to go because he was so wealthy.  And Isaac left and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar and dwelt there.
Isaac dug wells of water because the wells that Abraham had dug were filled up after Abraham’s death.  The Philistines who envied Abraham filled the wells with earth.  Isaac called the wells by the same names that Abraham had called them.
And Isaac’s servant thoughts dug a well in the valley and found springing water.  And the herdsmen of Gerar claimed the water.  Isaac called this well Esek because they strove with him.  Esek means, “oppression; strife; violence; injury; distress; straits; contention.”  They contended (argued) with Isaac over the well.
And they dug another well, and strove for that one too, and he called it Sitnah (a struggle between the First Degree [Esau] and Second Degree [Jacob]).  And he dug another well that was strove for, this one he called Rehoboth (subjective expansion).  Isaac said, “For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”[5]
Isaac goes up to Beersheba (the seventh well of Love).  And God speaks to him, “I am the God of Abraham thy father:  fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.”[6]
So Isaac built an altar there, called upon the name of the Lord, pitched his tent there, and his servants dug a well.  All these wells symbolize spiritual understanding within the subconscious (subjective) thought.

Genesis 26:26-31 – Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath [hold fast; possessions] one of his friends, and Phichol [mouth of all; spokesman for all; all-commanding; every tongue; the whole speech] the chief captain of his army.[7]  And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me,[8] and have sent me away from you?  And they said, We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee:  and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace:  thou art now the blessed of the Lord, And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.  And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another:  and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.

Then the servants came to tell him that water had been found in the well, which he called Shebah (the seventh well), and the city is Beersheba (unto this day).
In verse 34 it tells us that Esau is forty years old (so Jacob must also be forty) when he takes the wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:  Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
Judith is the feminine form of Judah and is the “outer-sense soul; physical sense; praise-and-prayer thoughts in consciousness.”  Beeri means, “my well; of a fountain, i. e., illustrious; of the principle cause; expounder.”  I think it is important, since the topic has been on wells; that Beeri has to do with a well or fountain.  Hitite signifies the limitation of Life, Truth, and Spirit (universal God qualities) as it tries to use them for personal sense use in order to build up matter.  It is like Christian Scientists who use Christian Science so that they can become healthy, wealthy, and rich in the material world.  There is nothing wrong with being rich, but just to use Christian Science so that you can become materially comfortable is not God’s way.  If the principle cause, which is God, is prayed to just to better ourselves in the material world then we are being a Hetite.
Bashemath means, “fragrant; aromatic; spicy; sweet; pleasant.”  She represents the feminine in man, its fineness and ability to perceive, or receive intuitively spiritual understanding and guidance.  Elon means, “strong man; an oak; any embodiment of strength, power, or stability.”  In his case, being a Hitite, the thought of strength and power is very material and is not enduring.  Bashemath should be good for Esau’s spiritual understanding and spiritual guidance, however, if she clings to the belief that matter is strength and power then Esau is in trouble.
Because of the negativity of Esau’s two wives Isaac and Rebekah feel grief.
Moving on to Genesis 27 Isaac is now old and his eyes are dim.  He called Esau to him and explains that he is old and knows not the day he will die, “So take your weapons, your quiver and bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison.  Make me a savoury meant, such as I love, and bring it to me to eat; so my soul may bless you before I die.”
Rebekah overhears what Isaac said.  After Esau leaves to go hunt she goes to Jacob, “Behold, I heard thy father speak to Esau saying, ‘Bring me venison, and make it savory, that I may eat and bless thee before the Lord before my death.’”  Now the words are slightly different because womanhood raises up the blessing to being before the true Father-God.  She continues, “Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.”  She instructs him to go to the flock and get two good kid goats.  I feel that these two kid goats are symbolic of the duality problem of the twin brothers (two kids).  She will prepare the meat; being the mother she probably taught Esau how to cook, so she knows how to make her meat taste as if Esau fixed it.  Then she tells Jacob that he will take the meat to his father so that he can mentally digest it and then bless Jacob before he dies.
Jacob reminds his mother of Esau’s hairy exterior; that Jacob is a “smooth” man.  This smoothness could be that he is smooth in his speech.  But I also think that it means that he is “free from obstructions or impediments.”[9]  Of course, here it also means that he has no hair upon his body.  This hair represents the animalistic thoughts of the carnal mind.  Esau’s hair in particular goes back to Adam because it is “red.”  Jacob, however, is afraid that Isaac will touch his skin and sense the deception and curse him.
Now with that, let us revisit the story of Adam after he is found naked in the Garden of Eden (in his body).  It is after the curse that the Lord dresses Adam and Eve in skins.  There are seven layers of skin on the mortal body.  These seven skins are symbols of the seven seals placed upon the book spoken of in Revelation 5.  I feel that Adam did not have skin, just flesh, up until he was cursed (my theory, you do not have to believe me on it).  But let us look at two modern day movies that have this idea behind it.
First I will talk about The Fifth Element.  Towards the beginning of this movie  (after a spaceship crash) there is only part of an alien body left.  This part of the body is taken to a lab (on Earth), because there is DNA the body can be reconstructed into the full body of The Fifth Element herself.
After the bones were completed flesh was placed upon the skeleton.  It was not until after the body was subject to external (the objective) electrical current (the serpent) that the body grew its protective covering with its seven layers of skin.
The second story is about Harry Potter.  Lord Voldemort creates these horcruxes each containing part of his soul; perhaps a better way of putting it is his living essence.  Harry Potter and his friends search for the remaining horcruxes.  It is interesting as to how many of them there are.

1)  a diary (from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets)
2)  a ring (containing the resurrection stone), Professor Dumbledoor found this one.
3)  a watch (symbol of sense-time)
4)  a Holy Grail Cup (The Goblet of Fire was book four)
5)  a tiara (which contained a blue stone for Life)
6)  Harry Potter himself (who is the Christ Truth)
7)  Voldemort’s pet (his love) serpent snake

It is only after these SEVEN SKINS are destroyed that Harry can destroy Lord Voldemort.  Now, in the story of Esau and Jacob, Jacob fears having smooth skin, that he will be cursed because of it.  So does this REALLY have only to do with Isaac’s discovery of their plot?  Or does it have to do with the Adam curse?
Rebekah says, “Upon me be thy curse, my son:  only obey my voice, and go fetch me them.”  And he obeys his mother.  Now the question arises, would God have let Esau be blessed by Isaac when He told Rebekah that the younger son would rule over the older son?  Perhaps God arranged it that Rebekah was in her rightful place to where she overheard the conversation between Esau and Jacob?
And Jacob brings the two kids and his mother prepares the savoury (prepared with sage – wisdom) meat (sustenance) and bread (symbolic of Life and Truth).  She also dresses Jacob in Esau’s garments (skins) and places the goatskins upon Jacob’s hands (power) and bare neck (that which connects the head and body together), and she gave the meat and bread “into the hand [power] of her son Jacob.”[10]
Jacob goes to Isaac and speaks, but Isaac hears the voice of Jacob and asks, “Who art thou my son?”[11]  He knows it is one of his sons, but is unsure which son has approached him.
Jacob says, “I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest [asked] me; arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.”[12]
Isaac asks how he found food so fast.  Jacob explains that the Lord (thy God) brought it to me.  Isaac still suspects something when he says, “Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.”  And Jacob goes close for his father to touch him.  “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”  And he was unable to discern his son’s true identity.  So he blessed Jacob.  “Art thou my very son Esau?”
     “I am.”
And Isaac ate the meat and drank the wine.  “Come near now, and kiss me, my son.”
And Jacob came near and kissed him.  And Isaac smelled the raiment and blessed Jacob.  He said, “See, the smell of my son is as the smell of field which the Lord hath blessed:  Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:  Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee; be lord over thy brethren and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee:  cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.”  (Genesis 27:27-29)
And after the blessing Jacob leaves.  He has hardly gone when Esau comes in from his hunting with his savoury meat.  Esau asks his father to arise and eat his venison.
Isaac asks Esau who he is?  “I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.”
“And Isaac trembled very exceedingly; and said, Who?  where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him?  yea, and he shall be blessed.”
Esau bitterly cries and asks his father to bless him also, but Isaac tells him, “Thy brother came with subtlety, and hath taken away thy blessing.”  (Genesis 27:35)
Now verse 36 gives us an important message!  It is for all of us to accept and understand that the names within the Bible cannot be passed over without any recognition at all.  We MUST understand what these names REALLY mean!  And Esau says, “Is not he rightly named Jacob?  for he hath supplanted me these two times:  He took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing.  And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?”
Isaac replies, “Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him:  and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
“Hast thou but one blessing, my father?  bless me, even me also, O my father.”  And he lifted up his face and wept.
“Behold,” Isaac said, “thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.”

Genesis 27:41-46 – And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him:  and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.  And the words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah:  and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.  Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise, flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran; And tarry with him a few days, unto thy brother’s fury turn away; Until thy brother’s anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him:  then I will send, and fetch thee from thence:  why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?  And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth:  if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the land, what good shall my life do me?
“A few days” turns out to be many years!  Rebekah never does send for Jacob.  Her curse (that she took upon herself) is that she would never be able to see her son Jacob again.  But, in a way, this is also the end of her as the motherhood of Jacob.  This must end so that Jacob can take his bride, just as Sarah died so that Isaac could take his bride.

Jacob fears Esau (personal sense) and flees (Gen. 27:1-28:9)

“The tone of Christianity as the Word closes when Jacob, under Rebekah’s bidding, flees from Esau’s wrath to the ancestral home in Haran, there to find himself a wife.  Like the teaching of the chapter ‘Creation’ in Science and Health, Jacob, in this opening tone of the story, shows his desire to be free from limitations.  He rebels against the mortal confines which Esau would impose upon him.  Instinctively he feels the truth of the statement:  ‘God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis’ (S&H 258:13).  Jacob is “resolute in proving that man’s identity is without boundary or limit.”[13]
Isaac calls Jacob and blesses him and charges him not to take a wife of Canaan (limiting finite sense).  Jacob is to go to Padanaram (the highlands of Syria, or the tableland of Aram) to the house (consciousness) of Bethurel (dweller in God, unity of God), his mother’s father, and take a wife of Laban (white; clean; pure; gentle; clear; transparent; shining; glorious; noble), his mother’s brother.  Isaac says, “And God almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful; and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people; And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.” (Genesis 28:3, 4)
     And Jacob was sent away.
When Esau found out about all of this and that his parents were displeased in his choice of Womanhood, he went to Uncle Ishmael “and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth (prominences; heights; cultivation of the soil; husbandry; fruitfulness; germinations; objective refocusing the light of the inner, true ideals that are of Spirit [heights] bringing forth.  Spiritual demonstration through the power of the Word, through spiritual understanding.), to be his wife.” (Gen. 28:9)
Mahalath means, “beautifully adorned [this is a reference to the Word]; mild; smooth; pleasing to the touch; rhythmic movements; sweet, harmonious sounds; dancers; singers; cithara; harp; lyre.” (Emphasis added.)  Now, is not this interesting?  Before we had Jacob impersonating the un-smooth Esau in order to get the blessing and now we have Esau (who represents Christianity) being wed to (the Word of God) the qualities his brother naturally comes by.

Christianity in the tone of the Christ

The 6th minor star – Palm Leaves of Salvation Keystone – “Science of Being”

In the tone of Christ as Christianity Isaac’s bride went to Isaac, while in this tone Jacob will go to find his bride.  These two circumstances seem to be complementary, especially since both brides are found at the well.  Both of these circumstances prefigure Christ Jesus at the well when the Samaritan woman comes to draw forth its water (spiritual teachings).

Woman of Samaria Window

Messengers (Gen. 28:10-22)

And Jacob went out from Beersheeba (Love’s well), and went toward Haran (the exalted Mind which by Truth is lifted up).   Jacob came to a certain place to rest, as the sun was set and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows (to support his head), and lay down in that place to sleep. (Genesis 28:11)  Now, I have to say that a stone would not make for a very comfortable pillow!  So what do the stones symbolize?  They must be symbols for the Christ, for he rested his head, he supported his conscious thought upon the Christ Mind.  In truth this stone pillow is literally a “head-stone”[14] the same headstone that the “builder’s rejected.”  W. Gordon Brown says that this headstone represents the seven synonymous terms for God.  Jacob “will build individually a spiritual world consciousness which will be his true body, or church.  This will take the form of a family of twelve sons [and one daughter].  His circle of twelve sons [a Stargate] will be a working illustration of the family of mankind transforming itself step by step into the body, or church, of Christ (Christianity as the Christ).”[15]
And Jacob dreams and sees a ramp or pyramid set up on the earth.  The top of it reached to heaven (comprehends God).  And angels of God (God’s thoughts) ascend and descend upon it.  To me this depicts the Major Pyramid Matrix of Truth and takes me back to Genesis 1-2:3 with its superstructure.
Now the reason why I know that this spiritual insight came from God in a dream to Jacob is because God has also given me many dream visions.
“And behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and God of Isaac:  the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south:  and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.  And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.” (Genesis 28:13-15)  If we take the cardinal points for the divine calculus I find this order interesting.  It begins with the Heavenly feminine Science head (west) and then has the eartly masculine Christ head (east), then it moves on to the Heavenly feminine Word body (north) and finally to the earthly masculine body of Christianity (south).  I feel that this insight helps to prepare Jacob for his new bride (who in the next verse we understand to be God [Heaven] Herself).
Jacob wakes up and realizes that God is present even though he did not know that God was there.  And Jacob was afraid, and said, “How dreadful [inspiration of awe or reverence] is this place!  This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”  So, not only did Jacob recognize the Major Pyramid Matrix of Truth but he also saw the Stargate to heaven matrix or the Window of the Open Book Matrix (with its Eddy vortex).  It “is a teaching symbol of how Jacob must make heaven and earth one [marry them] in his consciousness, and so solve the problem of a dualistic world.  He must bridge the gulf between himself and Esau.  In the measure that he succeeds, his identity will ‘spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south,’ and in him and in his seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.”[16]  Through the divine calculus mankind will be blessed.
In the morning he rose up, took a stone (one of the pillows), and set it up for a pillar, and he poured oil on top of it.  Now pillow and pillar are both types of supports.  In the fourth section (for Principle) of the Great Pyramid of Giza there are the five relief chambers of resting stones that supports the weight of the Pyramid above it.  These relief chambers keep the Pyramid from falling in on itself, keeps it from collapsing under its own weight.  Jacob also sets up the stone pillar and pours oil on it, this is to symbolize the anointing of Christ.
“Beginning his work at Bethel, he will also end it at Bethel.  Like the angels on the ladder [ramp or pyramid matrix], his thought must always return to the Principle on which it is based.  The journey from earth to heaven to earth is because, in the relation of the human to the divine, the human reflects the divine.  Reflection describes a circle [like with a Stargate].  Earth is heaven’s reflection, and therefore the two are one.”[17]
And Jacob called the place Bethel (the house [consciousness] of God), which was originally called Luz (bending; inclining; turning away; departing; perversion).  And he made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God:  And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house:  and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.”  (Genesis 28:20-22)  One symbol for the pillar is that it represents a connection between heaven and earth – so knowing what we do about this section of the book we could say this pillar represents the connection between God and man or Principle and its idea.
Tithe.  Contribution; tenth part; homage; gratitude.  A sacrifice to the gods.” (S&H 595:22)  One definition of contribute is “to play a significant part in bringing about an end or result.  A definition of homage is “a ceremony by which a man acknowledges himself the vassal of a lord.”  Jacob, then, plays a significant part in bringing about the end result that he is asking for, and is basically saying that if God does this, this, and that for me then I will pay homage and give back the tenth (reflect the allness of Life) of it all.  And this will take him into the next tone of his saga.  Jacob goes on his spiritual journey and comes into the land of the people of the east (of the Christ).

Arrival at Harran (Gen. 29:1-30)

Just as in the previous storyline for Isaac when the servant meets the future bride at the well, so Jacob meets his future wife, Rachel, at the well in the field.  There are three flocks of sheep lying by the well.  A great stone was upon the well’s mouth.  Jacob says to the men, “My bretheren, whence be ye?”  And they told him that they were from Haran.  Then he asked, “Know ye Laban the son of Nahor?”
And they said, “We know him.”
By the well Jacob asks, “Is he well?”
By the well they reply, “He is well.”  And behold Rachel [the ewe] his daughter cometh [ba’a] with the sheep.”  There is a delightful wordplay that occurs in verses 6 and 9, “in the expressions ‘and here is Rachel his daughter coming with the flock’ and ‘Rachel came with the flock.’  The Hebrew word for ‘coming’ and ‘came’ is ba’a, which reproduces the sound that sheep make.  When one realizes further that Rachel means “ewe,” the wordplay is enhanced.”[18]  Keep in mind also that an ewe is a mother sheep, the mother of a lamb (the Lamb of God).  And when we speak of the first Coming of Christ and the second Coming of Christ and the third Coming of Christ (for the three flocks of sheep lying by the well) – we can say “ba’a, ba’a, ba’a!”
“Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together:  water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.”
“We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.”  The well of spiritual teachings spoken by the mouth (God’s Christ messengers) will water (spiritually baptize) the sheep (the flocks or the Christ congregations).

Genesis 29:9 – And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep: for she kept them.

Rachel represents the spiritual ideal that is Israel (Womanhood).  She is in charge of God’s (her Father’s) congregations (Life’s Christian Church, Truth’s Christ Scientist Branch, and Love’s independent generic man).

Genesis 29:10 – And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.

Remember how his mother watered the camels of Abraham?  Now, he is watering the three flocks of sheep.

Genesis 29:11 – And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

This is a very rare description in the Bible.  He actually kisses (embraces) Rachel.  “Jacob recognizes his spiritual ideal, his only true love, and seeks to make her his wife.”[19]

Genesis 29:12 – And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s brother,[20] and that he was Rebekah’s son:  and she ran and told her father.  And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house.  And he told Laban all these things.

“Surely,” Laban says, “thou art my bone and my flesh.”
And Jacob stayed with him the space of a month.  Laban does not want Jacob to be there working for nothing, because they are like brothers.  Laban has two daughters, the oldest is Leah “weary”, and she is described as a cow[21] having tender eyes, but Rachel was beautiful and well favored.  And Jacob loved Rachel.  He told Laban that he would work for seven years so that he could marry Rachel.
Laban agrees that he would rather give her to Jacob than some other man, so he says, “Abide with me.”
And because Jacob is in love, the time (seven years) flies by in the wink of an eye, for they were “but a few days.”
And Jacob said unto Laban, “Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.”

Genesis 29:23-24 – And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.  And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.  And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.

And in the morning Jacob realizes that his new wife is Leah and not Rachel.  And he asks Laban, “What is this thou hast done unto me?  did not I serve with thee for Rachel?  wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?”
And Laban said, “It must not be so done in our country [it is not the law of the land], to give the younger before the firstborn.  Fulfill her week (seven days matrix journey), and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.”
So we are reminded that Jacob, being the younger, was given the blessing over the firstborn; and we feel that Jacob is being punished for his earlier deceit with his father.  But in truth it is the dualistic nature in man that must follow the order of the seven days of creation in order to wake up to the Truth that God is the one and only creator.
And Jacob fulfilled his week, his journey with the seven days, and was given Rachel to marry.

Genesis 29:29 – And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.

Now, this order is different.  First Jacob went into Leah before she was given a handmaid, this time however, the handmaid is given to Rachel before Jacob goes in to be with her.  A handmaid is a servant, and the servant is the Christ, so the two handmaids represent Christ types.  Leah, being of the cow (Christ), is of the First Degree while Rachel (the Ewe-Christ) is of the Second Degree, so perhaps this is why Leah received her servant Christ helper after her union with Jacob instead of before like with Rachel?  One other possible explanation for this is that Rachel is the last wife to conceive her two sons, the two handmaid’s sons are in the middle births (to some extent).
And he loved Rachel more than Leah, and Jacob served seven more years with Laban.  Zilpah, of Leah, serves the human, while Bilhah, of Rachel, serves the divine.  Leah, Zilpah, Bilhah, and Rachel become Jacob’s four wives that, in a way, represent the foursquare bridal city (the Stargate Matrix) with the Word, the Christ, Christianity, and divine Science.  And the twelve sons given birth to Jacob by the four brides will become the twelve stars of the woman’s God-crown (in Revelation 12).  In the hub of the wheel, well, that is where I place Dinah, Jacob’s daughter (Leah’s seventh child).  Later on, Moses will literally re-place her with the tribe of Levi.
Rachel means, “migrating; journeying in droves; ewe; sheep; lamb.”  Migration hints at a transitory state.  Rachel was not only a ewe but she could be called the Lamb of God.  It is this feminine Lamb of God that is spoken of in Revelation 5:1-5.  Being a Lamb of God (Womanhood), it is one like her that is appointed to unseal the closed book of the Bible as depicted in Suffer the Children.[22]  Rachel’s oldest son, Joseph, carries on her God-crowned mission, for Jacob gives him the coat of many colors[23] – a symbol for the Arch Covenant – the Spirit of the Law.
Leah means, “weary; exhausted; faint; sluggish.”  Leah’s definition expresses limited thought, like the leaven “of the Pharisees.”[24]

Pharisee.  Corporeal and sensuous belief; self-righteousness; vanity; hypocrisy.” (S&H 592:27)

“When we attempt to confine the divine law to the customary avenues of expression, and scoff at anything beyond, we are letting the leaven of the Pharisees work in us.”[25]  We need to upraise our thoughts to the affirmation of truth and God’s omnipresence of spiritual substance and Life.  We must follow the application of divine Law – the leaven of the woman God-crowned (“Science, Theology, Medicine”).  Leah represents the Ark Covenant – the Letter of the Law.
Bilhah means, “bashfulness; timidity; tenderness.”  Judgment [Dan] and strength [Naphtali] when joined with Jacob (the unified I am) become just and true.
Zilpah means, “distilling, extracting an essence; dropping; dripping; trickling; leaking; exuding myrrh; tears; bitterness [Mary means bitter].”  The essence here relates to Spirit as the fundamental principle of being.

Jacob’s wives are fertile.  (Gen. 29:31-30:24)

“To begin with, Rachel (like Sarah before her) is barren, but Leah [up to a certain point] and the handmaids are not.  Until certain moral obligations regarding the human have been met, divinity seems to be unfruitful.  We read is Science and Health: ‘The divine demand, “Be ye therefore perfect [Rachel]”, is scientific, and the human footsteps leading to perfection [Leah] are indispensable…God requires perfection [Rachel], but not until the battle between Spirit and flesh is fought [Leah] and the victory won…This is the cross.  Take it up and bear it [Leah], for through it you win and wear the crown [Rachel]’ (S&H 253:32-254:31).
“In the same way, the moral law of the Old Testament [Leah, with the Ark of the Covenant-the Letter of the Law] must first be obeyed in our daily lives before it can be fulfilled in the gospel of love in the New Testament [Rachel, with the Arch of the Covenant-the Spirit of the Law].
“A process of transformation and regeneration is set in motion in Jacob’s experience.  His consciousness must be both individual and universal at the same time.  Jacob is ‘the revelation of Science, in which the so-called material senses yield to the spiritual sense of Life [Leah] and Love [Rachel]’ (S&H 589:5-i a).
“The awareness that the human is in truth divine – that earth is heaven and heaven is earth – comes progressively, and the belief that the human is animal and mortal disappears.  Hence the qualities that characterize Jacob’s sons are sometimes spiritual, sometimes material.  His twelve sons are twelve enfolding types of consciousness that pertain to his relationship with his surrounding world, and to the solving of the problem of being.  They are stages in the growth of Jacob’s own spiritual stature, whereby his material sense of his brother Esau is replaced at last by the ‘face of God.’”[26]

The above diagram, to me, represents the Major Pyramid Matrix of Truth (Jacob’s Pyramid).  The first seven sons correspond to the seven days of Genesis 1-2:3.  Then the next four (Asher to Joseph) represent Science, divine Science, absolute Christian Science, and Science itself.  Then we go up into the center of the pyramid matrix with Benjamin as true Christianity, Dinah as the Christ Queen, and then Joseph again as the Word of the King Pharaoh.

This is the Stargate order for the thirteen children of Jacob.  The first four sons represent the squared-cycle for the Word, sons 5-8 represent the squared-cycle for the Christ, sons 9-12 represent the squared-cycle for Christianity and the one daughter, Dinah, represents the squared-cycle for Science itself.
Leah gives birth to the first four sons, the next two are the children of Bilhah, the following pair are Zilpah’s, and the next two are Leah’s.  Leah then gives birth to Dinah before Rachel can finally give birth to her two sons.

Reuben – Mind – The North Star and the Open Bible Keystone – “Prayer” – The Star of Bethlehem[27]

And Leah conceives and bares Jacob a son, Reuben, and Leah said, “Surely the Lord hath looked[28] upon my affliction, now therefore my husband will love me.” (Gen 29:32)
Reuben means “see a son.”  True sight belongs to Mind.  We could not see without light either.  The sun provides us with light, so sun and son correlate with each other.  This Mind is our foundation stone, our starting place on the pyramid matrix and the window matrix.
Reuben (Jacob’s son).  Corporeality; sensuality; delusion; mortality; error.” (S&H 493:12)  “Negatively, Reuben’s heaven is theoretical and abstract, unrelated to his present sense of a solid material earth.  This makes him ‘unstable as water,’ and prone to defile his father’s bed.  Reuben’s vision is finally fulfilled in Benjamin where heaven and earth are one.  Jacob must not stop at Reuben, therefore, but must move forward from son to son [zone to zone[29]] in the direction of this goal.”[30]

Fast circling on, from zone to zone, –
Bright, blest, afar, –
O’er the grim night of chaos shone
One lone, brave star [a Lone Stranger].[31]

The illustration of The Star of Bethlehem is very dark (with many black clouds).  The one bright light comes from the star itself.  However, a second light – the lighter cloud in the upper right hand corner – depicts (depending on your viewpoint of it) the head of Jesus, the head of a baby, the head of a woman in prayer, and the form of a man.  I believe, that since the head of the baby is seen with the head of Jesus that they are one and the same from manger to cross.

The Word as the Christ

Simeon – Spirit – The Daystar and Madonna and Child Keystone – “Atonement and Eucharist” – Christmas Eve

And Leah conceives a second time and bares Jacob a son.  Leah said, “Because the lord hath heard that I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also.”  And she called him Simeon. (Gen. 29:33)
Simeon and Levi are closely associated with each other; this is probably why Mary Baker Eddy only defines Levi in her “Glossary” (of S&H).  Simeon means “hearing.”  Ears are symbols for “spiritual understanding,” like the firmament in the second day of creation (S&H 585:1, 587:15).  “Simeon starts to bridge the gulf between an abstract spiritual heaven and what looks like concrete material earth.  Negatively, he would hold Spirit in the grasp of matter.  Like his namesake Simon the disciple he would keep the Christ idea apparently bound in flesh.  Positively, Simeon understands that heaven and earth are one, and this is the rock on which the true priesthood (Levi, church, body) is built.”[32]

Thus Christ, eternal and divine,
To celebrate
As Truth demands, – this living Vine
Ye demonstrate.

For heaven’s Christus, earthly Eves,
By Adam bid,
Make merriment on Christmas eves,
O’er babe and crib.[33]

The illustration of Christmas Eve depicts the idea of religious celebration in the birth of Jesus Christ (the baby head).  Old religious ways hold Spirit in the grasp of matter.  By the way, a tree is also a symbol for connecting heaven and earth together.  However, the Christmas tree (the Church) below is missing its capstone head (Christ Leader).  Personal sense would have us believe that earth is separated from heaven, however, earth is actually a heavenly body.  It is in orbit around the sun, found to be in heaven, so it is actually one with heaven.

Levi – Soul – Acrux and The Southern Cross of Calvary Keystone – “Marriage” – Suffer the Children to Come Unto Me

And Leah conceives again and bares Jacob a son.  She said, “Now this time my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons.”  So his name becomes Levi.  (Gen. 29:34)
Levi founds Israel’s priestly tribe.  Moses places Levi within the center-hub of the twelve tribes, in the center of the cult (wheel).  In Window of the Open Book the center hub is Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures itself (personal sense coming from a priest is no more), the “little open book” of Revelation 10.  This “open book” is what the Rose Window is named for, and it is of most importance that the correlating illustration from Christ and Christmas is the only illustration that depicts the open book!  And the “open book” is in the hands of a young girl, a Lamb of God.
It might be said of Levi, in the words of Jesus, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Thus olden faith’s [Levi’s] pale star now blends
In seven-hued white!
Life, without birth and without end,
Emitting light![34]

On page 54 of Christ and Christmas is found the Bible verse for this verse’s stanza that relate to the true Christ Priest, “LIFE, WITHOUT BIRTH AND WITHOUT END, EMITTING LIGHT!” (Suffer the Children [below] is colorized by me.)

Levi (Jacob’s son).  A corporeal and sensual belief; mortal man; denial of the fulness of God’s creation; ecclesiastical despotism.” (S&H 590:11)  “Levi’s relation to Simeon is like that of the third day of creation to the second, and like the third synonym Soul to the second synonym Spirit.  Positively, Levi is earth in communion with (joined to) heaven.  He is the human at the point of priestly identification with the divine.  Negatively, he is the human believing it is a sectarian channel for the divine.  In this sense, Simeon and Levi stand for a binding religiosity and for ecclesiastical despotism (S&H 590:13).  ‘Instruments of cruelty are in their habitations,’ Jacob says of them.  Jacob must therefore move on to Judah.”[35]

In the illustration Suffer the Children to Come Unto Me, we see the old man, the Levi Priest seeing through a glass darkly.  He is dressed in black, symbolic of The First Degree.  To his right side, on a table, is an unopened Bible.  Yet, the spiritual ideal, the young girl, sits upon the foursquare chair within the Major Pyramid Matrix of Truth, she comprehends the little opened book’s matrix structure, and the light from the book shines up onto her face.  The Scriptural text is “I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” – Jesus Christ.
Our true marriage is never with the opposite sex (or as seems popular today, even the same sex), our true marriage is never with a church or religion.  Our true marriage is with God and God alone!

The Word as Science

Judah – Principle – The Moon and The Golden Shore of Love Keystone – “Christian Science versus Spiritualism” – Truth versus Error

And she conceives a fourth time and bares a son.  This is the first time that it does not say that she bares Jacob a son.  Likewise, in the “Glossary” of the Christian Science Textbook, Mary Baker Eddy does not define Judah as Jacob’s son (see below).  Leah said, “Now will I praise the Lord.” (Gen. 29:35)
Judah becomes Israel’s kingly and governmental tribe.  It is of Judah that Scripture tells us Jesus is in the lineage of.  And it is Judah (along with Levi and Benjamin) that becomes what we call today – the Jews (from Judah).  Although I have not seen the work that was done, it is said that Mary Baker Eddy’s roots go back to Judah.  Judah, as mentioned before, means “praise.”  Praise is magnification, as when Mary said when Jesus was born, “My soul doth magnify the Lord.”  “Positively, Judah magnifies the divine to such an extent that the reality of humanity is divinity itself.  This is heaven governing earth, as in the fourth day of creation.  Negatively, Judah magnifies and worships the human symbol instead of the idea that is symbolized.  Thus, in the fourth thousand-year period, he [the line of the king] becomes so attached to Levi’s temple [Solomon’s Temple], as the supposed medium of Principle, that the temple has to be destroyed.”[36]

Judah.  A corporeal material belief progressing and disappearing; the spiritual understanding of God and man appearing.” (S&H 589:23)  Mary Baker Eddy shows us that the corporeal material belief does progress until it disappears because Judah is the spiritual understanding of God and man appearing.

To-day, as oft, away from sin
Christ summons thee!
Truth pleads to-night:  Just take Me in!
No mass for Me![37]

In Christmas Eve we have the inside (subjective) of the mansion (temple body) while in Truth versus Error we have the outside (objective) of the mansion (temple body).  The true temple is not the church or the building, the true temple Jesus explained as being the body of God.  In Truth versus Error Mary Baker Eddy holds a scroll of TRUTH, while knocking on the mansion door-church consciousness of her own followers.  She tried so hard to wake them up out of the belief that they had to attend church, or have a material place to worship God in.  All of the adult-erers are inside dancing and drinking wine; they do not see the Woman or who she really is.  But the girl-boy child couple is looking out the window and they see her.  “Just take Me in!”  Accept the one Mind as all there is!  Do not hold a Christ Mass for Mary Baker Eddy, but DO understand her place in Bible prophecy and do spiritually understand her appearance as the second coming of Christ!
Rachel is upset because she is barren and she envies her sister, she says to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die.”  And Jacob becomes angry toward Rachel.  He says, “Am I in God’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?”  And Rachel replies back, “Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her, and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.”  This is Rachel’s “suffer [permit] it to be so now” compromise to material organization.  (Gen. 30:1-3)

Genesis 30:4 – And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife:  and Jacob went in unto her.

Notice that it says Jacob went in unto her.

Sons of Bilhah (Rachel’s Handmaid)

Dan – Life – The Woman God-crowned Keystone – “Animal Magnetism Unmasked” – Christ Healing

And Bilhah conceives and bares Jacob a son.  Rachel says, “God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son.”   And she called him Dan.  (Gen. 30:5, 6)  Notice that she is “heard,” so Dan is the reconciliation with Simeon (material organization).  (Gen. 30:5,6)
“Properly used, human organization [Bilhah, The Mother Church] is the servant of the divine idea [Rachel, The First Church of Christ Scientist].”[38]  Improperly used, human organization becomes animal magnetism.  “Dan (Jacob’s son).  Animal magnetism; so-called mortal mind controlling mortal mind; error, working out the designs of error; one belief preying upon another.” (S&H 583:26)  Dan “judgment” is rooted to Daniel “righteous judgment.”  There is a difference between judgment and righteous judgment.  Judgment can be unrighteous!  To me Daniel represents Christian Science treatment because healing can only be accomplished when it is brought about through righteous judgment.  Jesus healed because he saw the real man before him, he did not ever see what the limited physical senses (the serpent) said to him.
“Rachel has envied Leah’s fertility.  A symbol must be employed spiritually, otherwise animal magnetism takes control.  Negatively, Dan is animal magnetism.  As such he fosters the organic, personal sense of life and refuses to lay it down.  Whereas the real [idea in back of] Dan passes judgment on (unmasks) animal magnetism, and so liberates humanity to spiritual self-government.”[39]  In the illustration of Christ Healing a man wearing black clothes is the symbol for Dan.  He is objecting to the healing of the girl sitting up in the coffin.  This girl represents Mary Baker Eddy.  Oh how the world so often objects to the Truth.  These men deny that Mary Baker Eddy was ever healed, just by turning to her Bible!  She read about Jesus healing the palsied man and was instantaneously healed.

Naphtali – Truth – The Oil Lamp Keystone – “Science, Theology, Medicine” – Christmas Morn

And Bilhah conceives again and bares Jacob a son.  Rachel says, “with great wrestlings…”  Now remember later on that Jacob will be wrestling with the angel before he meets up with Esau.  “…with my sister [her Esau], and I have prevailed.”  And she called his name Naphtali.
Naphtali means “wrestling.”  “Rachel says at his birth that she has wrestled with her sister and has prevailed.  Once we see the human as symbol, servitude to an organic sense of life is overcome.  This is the positive sense of Naphtali.  Negatively, Naphtali is ‘a hind let loose:  he giveth goodly words.’  Science and Health says that ‘thought, loosened from a material basis but not yet instructed by Science, may become wild with freedom and so be self-contradictory’ (S&H 552:19).  The trouble with Naphtali is that he may abuse the liberty which the true Dan gives him.  Hence we must move to the seventh rung of the ladder, where we are instructed by Science, and are no longer prone to wild permissiveness.”[41]  The trouble with Naphtali is that he may abuse the liberty that the true Dan gives to him.  What was the true Dan?  Righteous judgment via Christian Science treatment of knowing the Truth about God and man.  Christian Scientists gained so much freedom when Mary Baker Eddy was here to guide them that they began to abuse their freedom from sin, sickness, disease, and death.  They lost their freedom when they clung to the material organization after December 3, 1910.  When they refused to follow the estoppel clauses set up in the Church Manual they began to loose their freedoms.  The Board of Directors became “a hind let loose” that gives to the Field “goodly words.”  They refused to obey the estoppel clauses because they were AFRAID that they would loose their hold over the Field, they were also AFRAID that the Church would end if they obeyed God’s Law!

Yet wherefore signalize the birth [of Christ]
Of him ne’er born?
What can rehearse the glorious worth
Of his high morn?[42]

In the illustration Christmas Morn there is a New England landscape with many church structures in the background.  There is a path that goes by a house (that resembles the Baker home) and a path that goes by churches.  The home is closer to true church.  There is a church structure that resembles the Extension dome of Boston.  Mary Baker Eddy never set foot in the Extension because she understood the disobedience that would take place with the Church Manual.  There is also a cracked tomb in the forefront of the drawing.  In the air are two wingless angels, one male, one female, representing Truth (Michael) and Love (Gabriel).  In their train are many faces of the woman’s remnant (see Revelation 12).

Christmas Morn

Another symbol of this sixth son is the Boston Edifice, also called “the Cross.”  The Edifice represents the Christ Truth.
In verse 9 it is now Leah who seems to be barren, so she takes her handmaid Zilpah and “gave her Jacob to wife.”
Now remember that Jacob is sent into Bilhah while Zilpah is sent into Jacob.  In the first instance manhood must come (Ba’a) unto Womanhood and in the second instance Womanhood must come (Ba’a) unto manhood.  Could this represent man’s ascension and Womanhood’s descension?  I think so.

Sons of Zilpah

The Christ as Christianity

Gad – Love – Pomegranates Keystone – “Physiology” – Treating the Sick

Zilpah’s first son is Gad – “A troop cometh [Ba’a]” says Leah.  What type of troop is Gad?  Another definition of Gad is “assembly.”  In Disney’s Earth*Star Voyager an admiral is guiding (shepherding) the Earth*Star Voyager to an appointed destination in space, toward Assembly.  Assembly is the joining of Voyager (The First Church of Christ Scientist) with an Extension of itself.  It is just a bigger ship (Church organization).  However, Captain Jonathan Hayes, along with his crew and Captain Jacob Dryden Brown, foil the admiral’s plans.  Hayes uses the twin suns (two Christ advents) to destroy Assembly.
Mary Baker Eddy again resorted to the “suffer [permit] it to be so now” when she agreed to have the Extension church be built adjacent to The First Church Edifice.
Gad represents Love, just as the Extension was meant to symbolize Love, but when our Admiral Beasley (Board of Directors) fell to the Letter of the Law [Leah] without the Spirit of the Law [Rachel] being in their hearts – well there is “little love” in that Church.

Gad (Jacob’s son).  Science; spiritual being understood; haste towards harmony.” (S&H 586:21)  Gad “corresponds to the seventh day of creation, and to the understanding of being in its Science.  The danger with Gad is that having, through Science, tasted heaven, he may not want to return to earth.  But withdrawal must be followed by return, otherwise Gad is escapism.”[43]  “That which truly serves [Zilpah] the human [Leah] in its quest for unity with the divine is instruction in, and the understanding of, Science.  Hence Zilpah’s first-born is Gad, meaning ‘troop, fortune.’”[44]

The Way, the Truth, the Life – His word –
Are here, and now
Christ’s silent healing, heaven heard,
Crowns the pale brow.[45]

On the descending side of the Major Pyramid Matrix of Truth is Love descending with its light of Science.  This is the Bride City, the dove of divine Science.  In the illustration Treating the Sick most of it is white, but if man sleeps believing that he is harmoniously happy in the material (physical) world then what good is he?  What good is a Pollyanna outlook when spiritual understanding is not in back of it?  Can we really treat the sick and heal them when there is no understanding of Science (because the book is unopened)?

Asher – Science itself – Concord Grapevine Keystone – “Footsteps of Truth” – The Way

And Zilpah Leah’s maid bare Jacob a second son.  Leah said, “Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed.”  And his name is Asher. (Gen. 30:12, 13)  Asher represents spiritual understanding being utilized in our everyday (all moments) life and business – it is not just being a “Christian” while in church.  The only real happiness comes from our spiritual understanding of God and of our relationship with God.

No blight, no broken wing, no moan,
Truth’s fane can dim;
Eternal swells Christ’s music-tone,
In heaven’s hymn.[46]

Ahser (Jacob’s son).  Hope and faith; spiritual compensation; the ills of the flesh rebuked.” (S&H 581:15)  Hope and faith are two qualities of Life mentioned on page 115 for The Second Degree.

The Way – colorized by me

In The Way there is an ascending crown and a descending dove.   “When understanding (ascent) and demonstration (descent) are properly balanced there is happiness – happiness which is ‘spiritual, born of Truth and Love,’ which ‘cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it’ (S&H 57:18).  This is the happiness of individuality which is born of the collective and universal wholeness of being.  ‘Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed,’ Leah says when Zilpah bears Asher.  The negative sense of Asher is ‘asherah,’ signifying phallic worship, or creativity on a mortal basis.  Hence our need to move to Issachar, and to the divine sense of creativity.”[47]

Sons of Leah

Christianity as the Word

Issachar – divine Science – The Lord and the Lamb Keystone – “Creation” – Seeking and Finding

In verse 14 there is a change in pace.  Reuben (Mind) went in the days of wheat harvest and finds some mandrakes in the field.  He brings them to his mother.  Rachel, upon seeing them, asks Leah, “Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.”  Mandrakes are symbols of the Virgin Mary, but they are also used for fertility, as people believed they would help women to conceive.  But true conception takes place in consciousness as spiritual understanding.
In verse 15 Leah responds, “Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband?  and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also?”
And Rachel said, “Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son’s mandrakes.”
In verse 16 Jacob comes out of the field (the harvested wheat) in the evening.  Leah goes out to meet him and she says, “Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son’s mandrakes.”  And he lay with her.
So God hearkens unto Leah, and she conceives her fifth [Life] son, and bare Jacob a son named Issachar.  She said, “God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband.”  And she called his name Issachar.  (Gen. 30:17, 18)      “Reuben’s mandrakes, or love roots, are given to Leah in hopes that she will become fertile again.  But Leah trades them with Rachel in exchange for Jacob’s love.  Creation on a divine basis (represented by Rachel) is to be demonstrated.  “This calls for surrender of belief in human creation.  Hence Rachel, not Leah, takes the mandrakes.  Jacob loves Leah for this unselfish act, and his love is her reward.  We are near the point of the coincidence of the human with the divine.  So Leah bears Jacob’s ninth son Issachar (meaning “hire, reward”).”[48]  The human has earned its reward by yielding up organic creativity [which eating the mandrakes symbolized] in favor of the divine.

Issachar (Jacob’s son).  A corporeal belief; the offspring of error; envy; hatred; selfishness; self-will; lust [fallen man].” (S&H 589:1)  In the negative, “Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens.”  The danger is that of struggling to enjoy the fruits of two worlds – a human and a divine creation at the same time.  “Issachar can be a ‘servant unto tribute.’  The revelation that our present world is the only world, and is spiritual not material, disposes of Issachar’s dualism.  Hence we move to the tenth son where this fact becomes apparent.”[49]  Each of us is Issachar until we wake up to the fact that we are the “Son of God.”

What the Beloved knew and taught,
Science repeats,
Through understanding, dearly sought,
With fierce heart-beats;

In the illustration Seeking and Finding a seven-pointed star (Venus – divine Science) is shining down on Mary Baker Glover as she searches the Scriptures.  She must have discovered the difference between the two worlds, or the two creations at the beginning of Genesis!  Behind her is a talking serpent (it has human teeth), attempting to pounce upon her, to impede her spiritual progress.  But it is unable to do so because of Revelation 12’s prophecy about the woman God-crowned.  This prophecy is noted by the Grandmother clock’s face that reads 12:05.  This points her followers to read Revelation 12:1-5 and understand that this piece of time-pie is depicted as the Bride in Window of the Open Book.  Her Bridegroom is depicted in the Lord and Lamb Keystone.

Seeking and Finding – colorized by me

This illustration actually depicts Mary Baker Glover’s manhood mission as the angel of Revelation 10.  She is not writing anything down, she is going over the Scripture, as it is nighttime.  It was not until the morning’s light dawned that she would begin to write and Revelation would pour forth onto the page.

Christianity as the Christ

Zebulun – absolute Christian Science – Palm Leaves of Salvation Keystone – “Science of Being” – Christian Science Healing

And she conceived and bare Jacob the sixth [Truth] son named Zebulun.  Leah said, “God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons.”  (Gen. 30:19, 20)  Zebulun was actually Jacob’s tenth son.
Zebulun “dwelling” is a mental quality rather than a physical place.  Leah thinks that because she has now had six sons that her husband will dwell with her.  Her true husband, God, never stopped dwelling with her.

Christ was not crucified – that doom
Was Jesus’ part;
For Sharon’s rose[50] must bud and bloom
In human heart.*

Forever present, bounteous, free,
Christ comes in gloom;
And aye, with grace towards you and me,
For health makes room.

* “God was manifest in the flesh.” – St. Paul   [51]

“God was manifest in the flesh.”  Mary Baker Eddy defines Christ as “The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error.”  (S&H 583:10)  Mary Baker Eddy did not depict Jesus Christ in Christian Science Healing; she was depicted as the Christ!

Christian Science Healing – colorized by me

There are actually two different illustrations of Christian Science Healing in differing editions of Christ and Christmas.  In the first illustration (of an early edition) there is an old woman[52] in the bed being raised up by Mary Baker Eddy with her method of Christian Science Healing.  Mary Baker Eddy’s CHRIST mantle is dark in this illustration; it later becomes lighter.  In the second illustration of later editions the person in the bed is unmistakably an old man.  In both illustrations the same seven-pointed star shines down upon her.  She stands within a pyramid of light.

Christian Science Healing

Leah must understand that God is her true husband (see Isa 54:5).  “The stage is reached where the divine veritably dwells with the human, and there is no more belief in two polarized worlds [two different creations].  This is Immanuel, God with us.  Heaven and earth are demonstrably one.  This is the moment, in Revelation, when the heavenly city has descended to earth, and the Lamb is wedded to the bride.  But this fact must be understood in its universal Science.”[53]  We move onto the eleventh son, Joseph, after Dinah is born.  Dinah represents human love to Leah, and this makes Dinah liable to rape.

Daughter of Leah

The Science squared-cycle – Science as the Word, Science as the Christ, Science as Christianity, and Science as Science;

Dinah – A Little Open Book – “Teaching Christian Science,” “Recapitulation,” “Genesis,” and “The Apocalypse” (the Golden Candlestick, a.k.a., the Minor Pyramid Matrix of Principle)

In Genesis 30:21 Leah bears a daughter.  It does not say that Leah bare Jacob a daughter.  In most previous verses we read “and she bare Jacob a son,” but not here.  Dinah means, “judged; justified; acquitted; avenged.”  God’s judgment is founded upon Love, mercy, and goodness.  The negative judgment, as with Dan, is based upon animal magnetism.  The results are actions of vengeance, punishment, and evil.
I feel that Dinah must come as Love, as Womanhood, before Joseph can be conceived within Rachel’s consciousness.  Dinah represents the limitation of Love by ecclesiastical despotism (Simeon and Levi) where the walls become a prison instead of protection – what Dinah really should be – the city foursquare X; while Joseph represents the extension of Love having no boundaries – the city of our God +.
Dinah is the hub of the wheel (the cult of Israel) that later on becomes the Holy Tabernacle Tent of Meeting.  This tent is surrounded on all four sides by the tribe of Levi.  In Window of the Open Book we find as its center hub the true Church – the Textbook written by the Revered Leader Mary Baker Eddy – Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
The Board of Directors raped The First Church when they refused to obey the estoppel clauses in the Church Manual.  I will speak more on this topic later on.

Sons of Rachel

Christianity as Christianity

The Ark of Truth/Love – Joseph born  (Gen. 30:22-26)

The Arch of Truth/Love – Jacob decides to return to Canaan

Joseph – Christian Science – Harvested Sheaf of Wheat Keystone[54] – “Some Objections Answered” – Christian Unity

“And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.  And she conceived and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach.”  (Gen. 30:22, 23)  Now the wording is different here, as with Dinah.  The Bible does not claim Dinah or Joseph to be of Jacob, or born to Jacob!  As with Judah (Jesus Christ) these two children belong to Womanhood alone.
And she calls her son Joseph “extension” so that the Lord will add to her another son. (Gen. 30:24)

Joseph.  A corporeal mortal; a higher sense of Truth rebuking mortal belief, or error, and showing the immortality and supremacy of Truth; pure affection blessing its enemies.” (S&H 589:19)  Notice that Mary Baker Eddy does not mention Joseph as being Jacob’s son.  Rachel is Jacob’s ideal, not his corporeal spouse.  She is his only real love.

For Christian Science brings to view
The great I Am, –
Omniscient power, – gleaming through
Mind, mother, man.

As in blest Palestina’s hour,
So in our age,
‘T is the same hand unfolds His power,
And writes the page.[55]

Christian Unity is the only illustration in the shape of a circle, a wheel, for the Unity Matrix (for Window of the Open Book and Sharon’s Rose Matrix).  The two main figures are Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy.  Jesus is sitting down; his mantle (which is still dark) lies across his lap.  Mary Baker Eddy is standing, ready to fulfill her woman God-crowned mission.  His left hand holds her right hand.  Both hands form the shape of a U, for Unity.  Jesus represents Christianity while Mary Baker Eddy represents Science.  So the true unity is found to be Christian Science.  Mary’s left hand holds a scroll (a book) that has the words Christian Science on it (a union).  Christian Science was meant to come (the Second Coming of Christ) for the endtime (when the wheat is harvested).

Both Jesus and Mary stand upon a foursquare piece of earth while a pyramid of light shines down on them both.  This is the only illustration that presents to us the U.P.N. or the United (circle) Paramount (pyramid) Network (square).  There is no doubt that this illustration correlates with Window of the Open Book!
“The purpose of Joseph and Benjamin, the two sons of Rachel, is to transform and translate Jacob’s consciousness of his world.  Joseph is this world in its absolute divine Science.”[56]

The Morning Star Jacket
“Before Benjamin can be born, and the twelvefold circle closed [or completed], Jacob must prove the Joseph-principle in his immediate experience.  In accord with the eleventh chapter of the Christian Science textbook, Joseph (the coming ruler of Egypt) answers the world’s objections regarding Christian Science.  He enables Jacob to resolve his differences with what seems to be his outside world.  These objections arise from a misconceived, fragmentary approach to Christian Science, whereby its teachings appear contradictory (S&H 341).  The answer lies in the interwoven wholeness of Christian Science itself in its pure Science and system.  Joseph is this interwoven web of absolute Science (above is what I call “Joseph’s Jacket”).  He is the absolute at work in human experience, solving the problem of duality.  Jacob’s outside world is, in Truth, the kingdom of God within him.
“A theoretical absolutism, on the one hand, and a sense of insoluble matter, on the other, are the two main issues which Joseph must resolve in the consciousness of Jacob before Jacob himself is wholly regenerated and his twelfth son Benjamin is born.”[57]
And the baring of children is left for now because it is almost time for Jacob to return home.  But, so that I can complete the circle, I will go ahead and present Benjamin to you and then proceed with the section of Christianity as Christianity.

Christianity as Science

Benjamin – The Big Dipper Keystone – “Christian Science Practice” – Seven Sharon’s Roses[58]

Benjamin (Jacob’s son).  A physical belief as to life, substance, and mind, human knowledge, or so-called mortal mind, devoted to matter; pride; envy; fame; illusion; a false belief; error masquerading as the possessor of life, strength, animation, and power to act.
“Renewal of affections; self-offering; an improved state of mortal mind; the introduction of a more spiritual origin; a gleam of the infinite idea of the infinite Principle; a spiritual type [the woman God-crowned writings?]; that which comforts, consoles, and supports.” (S&H 582:4-13)

Benjamin has a negative definition and a positive definition.  Rachel gave Benjamin a different name, that means “son of my sorrows,” however, Benjamin means “son of my right hand; son of the south (Christianity).”
There is no illustration in Christ and Christmas for Benjamin, however, there is a Bible verse meant for Benjamin at the end of the book.
“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And I will give him the morning star.” – Christ Jesus.

The Seven Points B

The Morning Star is a reference to the planet Venus.  Venus was also a goddess of love.  In the Rider Tarot card deck are cards that symbolized the Morning Star.  The first card is (#2) THE HIGH PRIESTESS and the second card is (#3) THE EMPRESS (and there are a few others that tie in with the Morning Star).  These two cards also present to us a vivid picture of the woman God-crowned from Revelation 12.  So Jesus was promising us that he would give to us the woman God-crowned (a second comforter).

Jacob’s flocks are fertile. (Gen. 30:25-43)

In Genesis 30:25 Jacob goes to Laban and asks to be sent away, that he might return to his place, his country.  He asks for his wives and children that he did service for.
Laban said, “I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake.”

Christianity in the tone of Christianity

The seventh minor star – The Harvested Sheaf of Wheat Keystone – “Some Objections Answered”

This section of the story is in two parts; the first is about Jacob’s relationship with Laban and the second is his relationship with Esau.  “The first involves Laban’s ringstraked, speckled and spotted cattle, and everyone that has some white in it; the second involves his struggle with the angel at Peniel and his reconciliation with Esau as a result.
“As we have seen, the name Esau means ‘red [Adam/dragon],’ and Laban means ‘white.’  Jacob has served Laban for twenty years.  The birth of Joseph is the signal for him to leave his uncle in Haran and return home to Canaan.  Rewarding himself for his years of service, he appropriates the best of Laban’s cattle and adds them to his own.  The symbol of these striped and spotted cattle, and the brown (representing red) that have some white in them, suggests a combining of what Laban (white) stands for with what Esau (red) stands for – not in the sense of mixing Spirit and matter, but in the sense that the absolute [Laban] alone solves the problem of matter [Esau].”[59]
Wages are then discussed.  Jacob says, “Thou shalt not give me any thing:  if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted and speckled among the goats:  and of such shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face:  every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown, among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.”
Laban said, “Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.”
And Jacob removes all the mixed (white and red) from the flocks.  He places these animals into the hands of his sons.
Then Laban set three days’ journey between him and Jacob.  And Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s flocks.
Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel [yellowish-brown] and chestnut [reddish brown] tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods. (Gen. 30:37)  Rods are symbolic of divine Principle’s government.  Again the red and white stripes come into play as a mixture of Laban (white) and Esau (red).  Jacob sets rods that he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they would conceive when coming to drink.  And the flocks did conceive before the rods, and brought forth cattle that are the mixture of which with red and white with brown. (see Gen. 30:38, 39)
Jacob separates the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not into Laban’s cattle. (Gen. 30:40)  When the stronger cattle conceived Jacob laid the rods before their eyes. (Gen. 30:41)  If the cattle were feeble he gave them to Laban, and Jacob took the stronger cattle. (Gen. 30:42)  And Jacob increased exceedingly, he had many cattle, maidservants, menservants, camels, and asses. (Gen. 30:43)
Jacob hears Laban’s sons saying, “Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.” (Gen. 31:1)
And Laban’s countenance toward Jacob was not as before.  And the Lord tells Jacob to return to the land of his fathers, to his kindred; and He would be with Jacob.  So Jacob sent for Rachel and Leah to the field and his flock.  And he tells them about Laban’s countenance toward him changing, and that God has been with him.  He has served their father with all his power (might).  “And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.  If he said thus, ‘The speckled shall be thy wages;’ then all the cattle bare speckled:  and if he said thus, ‘The ringstraked shall by thy hire;’ then bare all the cattle ringstraked.  Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.  And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled.  And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, ‘Jacob’ and I said, “Here am I.’  And he said, ‘Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled:  for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.  I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointest the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me:  now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.’” (Gen. 31:2-13)
Rachel and Leah do not seem to be very pleased with Laban as they have no inheritance and he devoured their money.  And they agree that all God has said that Jacob must do. (Gen. 31:14-16)
Jacob rose up, set his sons and wives on camels, carried away all his cattle, and all his goods that he had gotten in Padanaram [found within the matrixes] for to go to Isaac in Canaan. (Gen. 31:17, 18)
And Laban went to shear his sheep and Rachel had stolen the images (idols, gods) that were her fathers. (Gen. 31:19)  Why would Rachel take her father’s images?  I feel that it is because these images are false images of gods, not the true image of God (man), and so the higher idea (Womanhood that is Rachel) must take these false gods away from her father.

Flight from Harran (Gen 31:1-34)

Jacob stole away (left) without telling Laban.  He fled with all he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward mount Gilead. (Gen. 31:20, 21)  Gilead means, “mound of witness; massive witness; enduring rock; rock of time; great endurance.”  Mount Gilead represents the high place in consciousness where Spirit discerns and witnesses to what is true and to all man’s thoughts and acts, that an adjustment may be made throughout mind and body.
On the third day, because he is three day’s journey away, Laban is told that Jacob fled.  He takes his brethren and pursued for seven days’ journey.  (Laban must proceed through the spiritual footsteps of Truth.)  And Laban overtakes Jacob at Mount Gilead. (Gen. 31:22, 23)
Before Laban catches up to Jacob, however, he has a dream (in the Sixth Day of Truth).  God speaks to him and says that he is not to speak to Jacob either good or bad.  (Gen. 31:24)  And the tents are pitched (on the Seventh Day of Love). (Gen. 31:25)
Laban asks Jacob, “What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?  Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me, and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?  And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters?  thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.  It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt:  but the God of your father spake unto me yesterday, saying, ‘Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.’  And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father’s house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods [idols]?” (Gen. 31:26-30)
Jacob replies that he left because he was afraid:  “for I said, ‘Peradventive thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me.  With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live:  before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee.”  For Jacob was unaware that Rachel had stolen the god idols.  (Gen. 31:31, 32)
Laban searched Jacob’s tent, Leah’s tent, and the two maidservants’ tents, and did not find his images.  He finely entered Rachel’s tent (consciousness). (Gen. 31:33)
She had put the images in the camel’s furniture that she was sitting upon.  He searched the tent.  Then she said, “Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee, for the custom of woman [her blood period-cycle] is upon me.”  And he searched but did not find the images. (Gen. 31:34, 35)  The reason he did not search the camel furniture is because blood was considered unclean and the woman during her blood cycle was unclean and not to be touched.  So he stayed away from Rachel.
What do the “images” really represent?  They symbolize ideas of thought.  The false gods or false images that man clings to must be stolen away, or spiritually translated back to God.  And it is the highest ideal of Womanhood that steals them away and translates them.
Jacob is wroth with Laban.  He asks, “What is my trespass?  What is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?  Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff?  set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.  This twenty years have I been with thee, thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young [miscarried], and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten.  That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.  Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night and my sleep departed from mine eyes.  Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle:  and thou hast changed my wages ten times.  Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear [love] of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty.  God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesterdaynight.” (Gen. 31:36-42)
Laban answers, “These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that there seest is mine; and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?  Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.” (Gen. 31:43, 44)
Jacob takes a stone and sets it up for a pillar.  And Jacob said unto his brethren, “Gather stones,” and they took stones, and made a heap:  and they did eat there upon the heap.”  (Gen. 31:45)
They mentally digested the Christ while resting upon the Christ.  And Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha [heap of stones for a testimony; a testimonial; a memorial; Jegar means – heap of stones, sahadutha means – an eye witness; a testimony] and Jacob called it Galeed [massive witness; heap of witnesses; rock of time; great endurance]. (Gen. 31:47)
And Laban said, “This heap is a witness between me and thee this day.”  Therefore the name was Galeed; and Mizpah [looking about; scanning the horizon; watchtower; lofty place; i.e., giving increased vision; broad vision; seen from afar; on guard to error; speculation; observation; inquiry], for he said, “The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.  If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us, see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.  Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee; This heap be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.” (Gen. 31:51, 52)
“At Mizpah (meaning ‘watchtower’) they [Jacob and Laban] establish their true relationship.  They set up a stone witness.  God, not man, is witness between them that neither in future shall interfere with the office and function of the other.
“The question is, what do Laban and Jacob typify when related in divine metaphysics?  Laban is white, shining, pure, noble.  Dwelling in lofty, exalted Haran, he surely represents, as we have said, the standpoint of the absolute.  Misconstrued, the absolute can appear as transcendental absolutism.  Jacob, on the other hand, is committed to the land of Canaan, where the absolute is demonstrable, and the mortal problem is solved.  Jacob must take the idealism of Laban and use it to solve the problem of Esau.  But Laban himself is not concerned in this.  In Science, the application of the absolute to the problem of the relative does not touch the absolute—does not diminish Leban’s substance – but instead greatly increases its value.  Spirit does not mix with matter when solving the problem of matter.  What seems to the senses to be matter is proved by Spirit to be Spirit’s reflection.  No wonder Esau is soon to appear in the consciousness of Jacob as the face (reflection) of God.  The solution to the problem of Laban, Jacob, and Esau, is the fact that the divine and the human are one in coincidence.”[60]
The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judged between Laban and Jacob.  And Jacob sware by the fear (love) of his father Isaac. (Gen. 31:53)
Jacob offers a sacrifice on the mountain, and called his brethren to eat bread.  And they ate the bread and remained that night on the mountain.  Then early, in the morning Laban rose up, kissed his sons and daughters, and blessed them.  Laban departed to his place. (Gen. 31:54, 55)
Jacob moves forward toward Esau.  Laban returns to his place.  At the same time Esau moves toward Jacob.  Jacob will be afraid of Esau until the dualism is resolved.  He wishes to appease Esau with gifts of his flocks and herds that have been Laban’s.  The “two bands” represent Jacob being unable to face Esau with spiritual nerve [courage].  He believes that the world is still against him and not for him (sounds familiar doesn’t it?).

Messengers (Gen. 32:1-32)

Jacob goes on his way and God’s angels meet him.
When Jacob saw them he said, “This is God’s host.”  And he called it Mahanaim. (Gen. 32:1, 2)  Mahanaim means, “two camps; two hosts; encampments; armies; hosts.”  In reality it represents the two camps of the human and divine, however, in Jacob’s present frame of mind, where he fears Esau, he must come to terms with this illusion of having a dualistic nature and accept his own spirituality.  Jacob has so long believed in the mortal (Esau) and human (Jacob) coincidence.  He has not yet realized the human (Jacob) and divine (Israel) coincidence.
Jacob sent messengers (angelic thoughts) before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir (“standing on end; bristling; shaggy; hairy; shuddering; stormy; tempestuous; house; fearful; he goat;[61] satyr;[62] wood demon.”), the country of Edom (“physical sense consciousness;” Edom represents the First Degree). (Gen. 32:3)
Jacob commanded these angels, “Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, ‘I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now and I have oxen, asses, flocks, manservants, and womanservants, and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.” (Gen. 32:4, 5)
And these angel messengers returned to Jacob to tell him Esau was coming with four hundred men. (Gen. 32:6)  These four hundred men really symbolize the divine calculus.
The number, however, frightened Jacob because he misinterpreted the number to be a bad thing (as in four horsemen).  So Jacob divided his people, flocks, herds, and camels into two bands (two circles).  He may have been thinking in a dualistic manner, however, he was guided divinely to divide his groups up as the Christ head and Christian body.  He said, “If Esau [as the Word] come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.  O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the Lord which said unto me, ‘Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee;’ I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant, for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am two bands.  Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me and the mother with my children.  And thou said, ‘I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’” (Gen. 32:7-12)
Jacob stayed there that night; “and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau.”  He gave Esau 200 she goats, 20 he goats, 200 ewes, 20 rams, 30 milk camels with their colts, 40 kine, 10 bulls, 20 she asses, and 10 foals.  And he gave them into the hands of his servants, every drove by themselves, and said, “Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.” (Gen. 32:13-16)  The word drove means “drive” or to direct a group of animals (as in a cattle drive).  This drive is a type of direction, and I feel that it too has to do with the divine calculus as the true director of man (and his animal or physical being).
And he commanded the foremost, “When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying ‘whose art thou?  and whither goest thou?  and whose are these before thee?’  Then thou shalt say, ‘They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau:  and, behold, also he is behind us.’” (Gen. 32:17, 18)
And he commanded the second, third, and all the other following droves to say the same thing to Esau.  “And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us.  For he said, ‘I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.’” (Gen. 32:19, 20)
So the present went over before him and he lodged that night in the company.  He rose up that night, and took his two wives, two womanservants, eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok. (Gen. 32:21, 22)  Jabbok means, “pouring out; emptying; flowing rapidly; effusing; diffusing; dissipating; pounding; beating down; pulverizing; covering with dirt; wrestling.”  Jacob gives up his present ideas in order to receive greater ideas, or higher ideas.
Jacob sends his loved ones over the brook.  And Jacob is alone with his own being.  Yet this is where a man wrestles with him until the breaking of the day, or until the breaking of spiritual light dawns within his consciousness. (Gen. 32:23, 24)
When he sends his family ahead of him he is alone at Peniel where he wrestles with the mighty issue – his relationship with Esau.  Penile means, “face of God.”  It is here that Jacob is alone with his own being, with the true identity of man.  This identity presents subject and object as one instead of two (dualistic nature; twins).  And the adversary that he wrestles with is not his enemy but rather an angel entertained unawares.
And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.  And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh.  And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.  And he said unto him, What is thy name?  And he said, Jacob.  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel:  for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.  And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name.  And he said, Wherefore is it that thou doest ask after my name?  And he blessed him there.  And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel [Peniel represents the Science of Being]:  for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.  And as he passed over Penuel the sun [Christ consciousness] rose upon [within] him, and he halted upon his thigh.  Therefore the children of Israel eat, not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day:  because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank. (Gen. 32:25-32)
The light of Truth (Michael) and Love (Gabriel) show Jacob that Esau is not to be feared, that Esau (mortal man) is not a great power at all.  The angel’s smiting of the “sinew, or strength, of his error” (S&H 308:20) helps him understand the unreality of his fear of Esau.  “A meaning of sinew is nerve.  The weakness inherent in a dual sense of life is yielding to the strength of spiritual integrity.  Jacob finds his true nerve.  He is filled with divine strength.  As a result, his nature is transformed.  If God is All-in-all, there is no animal magnetism masked as Esau threatening him from over there.”[63]  The belief that Esau is over there, out there, somewhere else to be feared is nothing more than animal magnetism.  The only presence is God.  In truth, Jacob has been “objecting” to God, and resisting his own Christ advent known as Israel.  David Nolan says that Israel means that which is real.  Jacob understands that there is no here and there (no animal magnetism here and there) – in reality there is only the presence of Soul.  When his wrestling ends Jacob says, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”  This is also the same as seeing Esau’s face being the face of God, the recognition that Esau is the image and likeness of God.
Jacob is spiritually renamed Israel, for “’as a prince’ had he prevailed and had ‘power with God and with men.’” (S&H 308-309).  Israel-idea came to Jacob just as to our Western world of today Christian Science came to man.  Israel embodies the identity of Esau; otherwise they would not be one, just as Christian Science, the true identity of the world-embracing West, embodies the reality of the “red” East.

Jacob returns and fears (loves) Esau (Gen. 33:1-20)

And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men.  And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.  And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost. (Gen. 33:1, 2)  Now, this may seem to limited finite sense that Jacob was protecting his highest idea (Joseph) from Esau.  However, by this time Jacob has become enlightened with spiritual understanding.  I feel that Jacob is presenting a certain Scientific order that is necessary to this story.

The following matrix explains Jacob’s order.

And Jacob passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. (Gen. 33:3)  The bowing of seven times represents Jacob’s humble nature to God and man.  He now recognizes man reflecting God in his wholeness – as Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love.
The two brothers meet in Science where both of them have perfect supply.  Jacob’s objective world is now the face of God, the reflection of Soul as Spirit (not sense as matter).
It is because of Joseph (as seen in the table above, Joseph in its full aspect as Science as the Word, Science as the Christ, Science as Christianity, and Science as Science – a prequel to the Joseph Saga which finishes up Genesis) that the comprehension of oneness has come to Jacob.  As Genesis continues “Israel and Joseph become more and more closely identified.  In the fourth thousand-year period when the united kingdom divides into Israel and Judah, the kingdom is dispersed among the nations of the world.  Its restoration comes at last in the form of Christian Science, which is Joseph’s true identity.
And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him:  and they wept.  And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee?  And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant. (Gen. 33:4, 5)  Esau sees the order of the spiritual children of Israel (“The representatives of Soul, not corporeal sense; the offspring of Spirit, who, having wrestled with error, sin, and sense, are governed by divine Science; some of the ideas of God beheld as men, casting out error and healing the sick; Christ’s offspring.” S&H 583:5).
Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. (Gen. 33:6)  The Christ Servants with their spiritual ideals approach the Word that is made manifest in the flesh and humble themselves before it.
And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves; and also came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.” (Gen. 33:7)  Then Christianity brings forth its universal brotherhood and humbles itself before the Word that is made manifest in the flesh.  And finally, Science and true Mother Hood as the Bride, comes forth (Ba’a) to bow before the Word that has been made manifest in the flesh.
And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met?  And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord, And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.  And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand:  for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.  Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.  And he urged him, and he took it. (Gen. 33:8-11)  Now, this is important in that Isaac was not able to bless Esau, but Jacob is able to bless Esau.
And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.  And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me:  and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.  Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant:  and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir. (Gen. 33:12-14)  Our new ideas, the children and flocks, must proceed at a slow pace.
And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me.  And he said, What needeth it?  let me find grace in the sight of my lord.  So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir. (Gen. 33:15, 16)
“In the words of Paul regarding Christ Jesus, Joseph (Israel) has ‘broken down the middle wall of partition’ between Jacob and Esau, ‘for to make in himself a twain one new man, so making peace’ (Eph 2:14).  The tone in its positive sense comes to an end when Esau returns to his home in Seir, and Jacob purchases from the Shechemites a parcel of land which he gives to his son Joseph.”[64]
And Jacob journeyed to Succoth [“interwoven; interlaced; coverts; shelters; protection; hedges; booths; tents; tabernacles.”  A booth is a temporary abiding place, as compared to a permanent house.], and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle:  therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. (Gen. 33:17)  What Succoth really represents is the matrix web where Jacob comes to temporarily reside.  It is where Jacob must come to terms with a corporeal body and with the aid of God’s matrix system (web) he comes to understand matter to be an illusion.
And Jacob came to Shalem (“peace; summit”) a city of Shechem (“inclining; bending down; shoulder; ridge; upper part of the back; burden.”), which is in the land of Canaan (realized nothingness), when he came from Padanaram (the land of the matrix structures); and pitched his tent (consciousness) before the city. (Gen. 33:18)
And he brought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor (“ass; wild ass, so called from its reddish color; clay; loam; cement; heap; red; blushing; inflamed.”  Adam-man), Shechem’s father, for an hundred pieces of money. (Gen. 33:19)  Shechem represents the Cain thought.  Jacob must come and reside here in order to raise it up from mortal mind.  But a counterfeit story begins to take place in chapter 34.

Interlude:  Dinah in a foreign palace:  pact with foreigners (Gen. 34:1-31)

Now that the spiritual idea has been presented it is time for the Bible to present its material opposite so that it can be exposed.  Having been shown the true way of relating with our brother man, we are now shown the false way, the way that most religions are set up.  This chapter tells of the rape of Dinah, Jacob’s Church or Womanhood that is born unto him in the tone of Love, and of how ecclesiastical despotism as false brotherhood (the opposite of Truth) deals with the rape in order to get revenge.  Dinah’s ravisher is Shechem, the son, or a ruler, of the territory of Shechem.  And the antidote to this offensive episode must be Joseph, who is the real owner of the land.
Dinah represents The Mother Church as humanity’s personal, sectarian sense of God’s spiritual idea (Mary Baker Eddy, a.k.a., the woman God-crowned).  A possessive attitude towards Mary Baker Eddy and her estate defiles her and her church.
And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare (revealed) unto (before) Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. (Gen. 35:1)  She goes out to see what type of churches, or Womanhood, resides here.
And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite (remember Esau’s first wives were of the Hivite), prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. (Gen. 34:2)  Shechem (the corporeal Board of Directors), the prince, rapes the Church of Dinah (her body is Jacob’s crowned Extension).
And his soul (material sense) clave unto Dinah the (corporeal church body) of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel. (see Gen. 34:3)  Damsel means, “a young woman of nobel birth.”[65]  Damsel is also rooted to “domination; rule; control.”[66]  So what Dinah really represents is the dominion, rule, and control of the church body.  This is what Shechem is really attracted to.
And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, “Get me this damsel to wife.” (Gen. 34:4)  The prince of material organization wishes to control Dinah’s body (her spiritual power).
And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter:  now his sons were with his cattle  [Christhood] in the field:  and Jacob held his peace until they were come. (Gen. 34:5)  Dinah has been made ceremonially unclean.  The Board of Directors made The First Church ceremonially unclean when they told the Branch Churches that they had to act in accord with formal usage or prescribed procedures that they themselves came up with.
And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him. (Gen. 34:6)
And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it:  and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter, which thing ought not be done. (Gen. 34:7)
And Hamor communed with them, saying, “The soul [physical personal sense] of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter [Church].  I pray you give her him to wife [to control].” (Gen. 34:8)  Shechem’s father, Hamor (a false king-emperor), sees nothing wrong with the rape, and recommends official marriage.  “And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughter unto us, and take our daughters unto you.” (Gen. 34:9)  “Let us mix our many churches together.”  But this mixing will make the pure Church of Christ Scientist impure.  “And ye shall dwell with us and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.” (Gen. 34:10)  Come down to the material viewpoint and acquire material objects of sense!
And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, “Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me:  but give me the damsel to wife.” (Gen. 34:12)
And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:  And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:  But in this will we consent unto you.  If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcized; Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people [one Church]. (Gen. 34:13-16)  The sons of Jacob “agree to this, providing it is on their terms.  Simeon and Levi stand for the conversion tactics of organized religion.  They demand that the Shechemites are circumcised before becoming members of the Simeon-Levi cult.”[67]  To be circumcised means you are concise, “free from all elaboration [a build up (complex organic compounds) from simple ingredients] and superfluous [exceeding what is sufficient or necessary; an overflow; marked by wastefulness:  extravagant; luxurious living, habits, or desires] detail.”[68]
“But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter and we will be gone.” (Gen. 34:17)
And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem.  And the young man did not postpone to become circumcised, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter:  and he was more honorable than all the house of his father. (Gen. 34:19)
And Hamor and Shechem went to the city’s gate to commune with the men of their city.  They said about Jacob’s people, “These men are peaceable with us, therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give our daughters.  Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.  Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours?  Only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.” (Gen 43:20-23)
And they all listened to Hamor and Shechem and became circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city. (Gen. 34:24)  Because conforming to the circumscribing party line seems to be a personal advantage to the Shechemites they agree to do the deed.
And it came to pass on the third day that the men were sore.  And Simeon and Levi, the church’s brethren, took their swords and boldly went to the city and slew all the males.  And they slew Hamor and Shechem with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of the house of Shechem.  These two sons (acting as one) of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city (robbed it), because they had defiled their sister.  They stole the sheep, oxen, asses, and what was in the city and field.  And all the wealth, the little ones, and the wives they took captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house. (Gen. 34:25-29)  Yet while they recover from the religious initiation the Shechemites die by the sword of Simeon and Levi.  Then these two sons steal the wealth, their women and children.  Ecclesiastical despotism is murder; it deprives its victims of their rights of self-government, as well as, their natural creative ability.
There is little wonder as to why Jacob says to Simeon and Levi:  “Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, amongst the Canaanites and the Perizzites [countrymen]:  and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.” (Gen. 34:30)
And they said, “Should he [Jacob] deal with our sister as with an harlot [take action with regard to Dinah as to an harlet?]?” (Gen. 34:31)
Later on in the book of Acts Paul, in the tone of Christianity as Science, during his third missionary journey, must handle false motherhood (a Mother Church).  The false motherhood is represented as being worship to the goddess Diana (close to Dinah isn’t it?).  Diana is a goddess of fertility (having children through sex is not God’s method) and she is a moon goddess too.  Thus, she counterfeits the woman God-crowned of Revelation 12 who stands with her feet upon the moon.  The woman God-crowned has dominion over material fertility, the monthly cycle of blood, etc.  Today’s Mother Church in Boston refuses to even acknowledge Mary Baker Eddy’s place as the woman God-crowned, hence, they have fallen into the worship of false motherhood (ecclesiastical despotic government).
After Paul handles this false type of motherhood he understands that he must return to Jerusalem (his old Jewish Mother Church when he was Saul) even though he knows they will put him in bonds and imprison him.  But first, in the tone of Christianity as Christianity, after arriving in Jerusalem, he must argue with the Christian Jews over circumcision.  The Christian Jews feel as if the Christian Gentiles should undergo circumcision in order to be made a member of the church.  But the Gentiles are “free born” Christians, they are not under the covenant that God made with Abram (before Isaac was born).  The circumcision has to do with the bondwoman (Hagar), with the Letter of the Law only.  The Gentiles, however, have to do with the free woman (Sarah-Principle), with the Spirit of the Law.
Today, history repeats itself, in that the Mother Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts is like the center hub of the Jewish Christian Church.  They want to govern all the Branch Churches (of the Gentile world) with the illegal 89th edition of the Church Manual.  They wish to have the Branch Churches be circumcised!  But the Letter of the By-Laws in the Church Manual does not apply to the Branch Churches as they are (under the legal 88th edition of the Church Manual) independently governed by Principle, not by a Boston Board of Directors.
Paul was both Jew and Roman, he was both of the Letter of the Law (Jewish Christian) and Spirit of the Law (Roman Christian), and as a Roman citizen he claimed, “I am free born!”  In other words, he was born of Principle.  He was like today’s Christian Scientist that has membership in both The First Church of Christ Scientist and in an independent Branch Church.  If you, as a Christian Scientist are members of both, you must wake up and realize that you are not obligated to go to Boston for trial (by a Board) if you have done nothing wrong, but if you do go, it should be because you, like Paul returned to Jerusalem, wish to appeal to the higher court of Principle.  And if you get excommunicated the better off you will be.
The Board of Directors has raped Mary Baker Eddy’s Church Estate by demanding that the Branch Churches be circumcised (making it mandatory for the Branches to be bound and imprisoned by the illegal 89th edition of the Church Manual).

Christianity in the tone of Science

The eighth minor star – The Big Dipper – “Christian Science Practice”

Oration fulfilled, struggle in childbirth, Jacob becomes Israel (Gen. 35:1-22)

And God said unto Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there:  and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from Esau thy brother.” (Gen. 35:1)
Jacob tells his household and servants to put away idols (personal sense), to be clean (pure), and change their garments (outer expression).  And they were to arise – go up to the house consciousness of God – Bethel so they can make an altar to God.  And they gave Jacob all their strange gods, earrings, and Jacob buried them under the oak that was by Shechem. (Gen. 35:2-4)  This means that all that belongs to personal sense must be buried in the land of personal sense.  Remember this, as there will be another oak tree and something else to be buried later on.
Jacob fulfills his God-crowned mission.  He began his mission at Bethel, and this is where he returns, just as God told him he would.  He has encompassed the Major Pyramid Matrix of Truth (the Seven Days of Genesis) that unites heaven (divine) and earth (human) as one.  Jacob is now ready for his twelfth son’s birth.  He has not deviated from “the order of prescribed by supernal grace” – the order of the light descending “down from heaven of Truth [the capstone of the pyramid] and Love [the light itself], upon which angelic thoughts ascend and descend” (Ret 85:10).  Once the circle is complete Jacob can wear his crown of twelve-stars that designates divine Science as the city foursquare.
Jacob’s people journey to Bethel, and the people round about them fear God so they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.  Jacob and all his people came to Luz (separation from the physical via Spirit) or Bethel (the consciousness of God).  And Jacob built an altar there and called the place Elbethel:  because it was there that God had appeared to Jacob.  But Deborah (“bee; wasp; a leader of the flock; one of the followers.”), Rebekah’s nurse, died.  She was buried beneath Bethel (in the ground of Bethel) under an oak:  and the name of it was called Allonbachuth (“oak [the protection of Spirit] of weeping.”  The inner strengthening of true man that comes when he tries to serve his brethren.  When he does this he lets go of the outer, personal activities and goes within to the strength and true energy, and rests in God[69]). (Gen. 35:5-8)
What does Deborah really symbolize?  She is Mary Baker Eddy “leader of the flock” who was the queen bee of The First Church.  Rachel represents the Bride of Science, but her Deborah servant, who was constantly serving her students (flock), church, and the world is believed to have died on December 3, 1910.  Certainly her five male Board of Directors declared her as being dead.  But Mary Baker Eddy is really alive.  She is in the house of God (Elbethel), being forever protected by Spirit (the oak).
God confirms Jacob’s new name to be Israel – And God appeared to Jacob when he came out of Padanaram [the matrix land], and blessed him.  And God said, “Thy name is Jacob; thy name shall not be called Jacob anymore, your name is Israel.” (Gen. 35:10)  Israel means, “contending for God; striving for God; who prevails with God; a prince with God; dominion with God; rulership with God.”
And God tells him to be fruitful and multiply (spiritually not in matter).  He will be nations, “company of nations and a father of kings.”  And he promises the same land he had promised to Abraham and Isaac. (Gen. 35:11, 12)
And Jacob sets up a pillar of stone at the place.  He pours a drink offering there and then oil.  (So the wine drink is sacrament, and the oil is for an anointment.)  And Jacob called this place Bethel. (Gen. 24: 14, 15)
Ephrath is actually Bethlehem, the birthplace of Benjamin, and later on Jesus.  “Bethlehem means ‘house of bread.’  ‘I am the bread which came down from heaven’ (John 6:41), Jesus says of his heaven-born, earth-regenerating identity.  Benjamin actually stands for Jacob’s complete regeneration.
“With the birth of his twelfth son, Jacob’s ‘revelation of Science’ is finished – finished, that is, as far as laying its foundations is concerned.  Science itself is infinite; there can therefore be no end to its revelation.  Jacob’s ‘so-called material senses’ have yielded ‘to the spiritual sense of Life and Love’ (S&H 589).
“It is well to note that the two terms Life and Love also define the woman in the Apocalypse, crowned with her twelve stars (S&H 561:10).  These stars typify ‘the twelve tribes of Israel with all mortals.’  Jacob is the early Biblical symbol of this woman – that is, of generic man, the spiritual idea of God, depicted as a birth-giving mother.  The woman in the Apocalypse is infinite individuality (Life) which is universal in outlook (Love).  She is the individuality of us all reflecting in itself one indivisible spiritual world.”[70]
Jacob’s people leave Bethel and in a “little way” they came to Ephrath [“fruitfulness; fruitful; productive; abundant.”  It is here that they make the demonstration of Christian Science.] and Rachel travailed with a hard labor.  And the midwife said, “Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.”  And it came to pass as her soul (physical sense) was in departing, (for she died [to material sense]) that she called his name Benoni [“son of my sorrow”]:  but Jacob called him Benjamin [“son of the right hand; son of good fortune; son of prosperity; son of happiness, i.e., productiveness; strength, executive power[71]; son of the south[72].”]  And Rachel died, and was buried in the way of Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
Why is there mention of the earlier Deborah the servant (bondwoman)?  I think that it is because Deborah was Mary Baker Eddy’s attempt to do away with material organized religion, via a Board of Directors, through the estoppel clauses in her Church Manual.  Rachel represents the free woman who mothered Science (Joseph) or Mary Baker Eddy (who mothered Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures).  What seemed to kill Rachel was the “son of her sorrows,” the son that would fall into the path of material organized religion.  What really died was the true sense of The First Church (“I was free born.”) because it was taken over by The Mother Church (organic material religion).  During the Forth Day of Principle Benjamin becomes one with Judah and Levi – the Jews, and these three tribes (nations, stars) becomes separated from its Womanhood – Israel (the ten lost tribes).
Benjamin represents the Christian Science Church Manual.  Benjamin is the son that Mary Baker Eddy hoped she would never have to give birth to!  It was because of the Board of Director’s disobedience that she had to write the Church Manual.
When the five Board of Directors disobeyed the estoppel clauses after December 3, 1910, The Mother Church became “a son of sorrow” to the world.  However, under Jacob’s (James[73] B.[74] Brown’s[75]) direction the Church Manual in truth is Benjamin as it is the “son of the right hand [of Mary Baker Eddy] with its executive power.  However, it is only Mary Baker Eddy’s hand (manual) that can approve any executive decisions and/or orders!  Without her signature the Church Manual becomes a “son of sorrow.”  The First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, when in obedience to “son of the right hand” of Mary Baker Eddy’s estoppel clauses, becomes a Branch Church (one of the twelve stars – or sons of Israel).  It has no power over any other Branch Church in the Field.
Furthermore, the Motherhood of The Mother Church ended on December 3, 1910 when Mary Baker Eddy died to material belief and her signature was no longer available to give the Board of Directors permission to do anything with The First Church.  They were, however, when going back to a four member Board, able to make decisions for The First Church.  But they were to ONLY make decisions for The First Church and they were NOT to give orders to the Branches!  The Branches were to be self-governed independently from Boston.
It is of importance that in an early Church Manual was a listing of the First Members.  There were twelve of these First Members with STARS by their names.  It seems odd that only one of the First Members lost their star; it was Mary Baker Eddy’s adopted son – Bennie Foster-Eddy.
And if you feel that I am incorrect on this topic, perhaps you prefer W. Gordon Brown’s interpretation better?  “An entirely new concept of motherhood has dawned.  Once individuality is divinely universal there is no further need for personal mothering [no need for a Mother Church].  The universe itself is mother.  This is why Rachel dies when Benjamin is born.  The career of Mary Baker Eddy, revelator [discoverer] and founder [and Leader] of Christian Science, follows the same pattern.  Let us remember that in the spiritual perspective of the thousand-year periods, Jacob initiates the very seed of the Science of Christianity, which is chemicalizing world consciousness today.
“In the first decade of the twentieth century, when her ‘revelation of Science’ was complete, Mary Baker Eddy provided for the passing of her Mother Church organization.  She understood generic man, the spiritual idea of God, to be the real mother of Christian Science.  A stage had been reached where individuality could realize its truly universal nature, when it could be spiritually self-governed, spiritually self-led, spiritually independent of external mothering.  It could give birth from within itself to its own absolute being.”[76]
And Jacob sets a pillar upon her grave, or a head-stone-cornerstone, that is the pillar of Rachel’s grave unto this day. (See Genesis 35:20)  One definition of grave means “authoritative.”  It is Mary Baker Eddy’s signature that carries any authority in The First Church!  What body could or would be buried?  It would HAVE to be the body of (S)Motherhood that must be buried, for it comes from spiritual wickedness in high places (high authority).  This spiritual wickedness in high places is the wolf, which is how Jacob describes Benjamin later on in Genesis!
And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar [mouth, peh]. (Gen. 35:21)  Edar, or Eder, means, “troop; flock; drove; herd; any movable aggregation that is numbered; arrayed; mustered.”  It represents the dominion and ruler-ship of the administration tower in Boston (belonging to the hierarchy – Board of Directors).  After December 3, 1910 it seemed as if Christian Science kept going full steam ahead, and it grew.  Its growth was the result of Mary Baker Eddy’s good word and good works.  And the Board of Directors took advantage of this growth.  It became high prestige in the Field to become one of the Boston “officers” or to be called to Boston by the Board of Directors to work in Boston.  The Directors are not Mary Baker Eddy’s successors!

“Mrs. Eddy’s successor
“In a recent interview which appeared in the columns of the New York Herald, the Rev.[77] Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, stated that her successor would be a man.  Various conjectures having arisen as to whether she had in mind any particular person when the statement was made, Mrs. Eddy gave the following to the Associated Press, May 16, 1901: –
“‘I did say that a man would be my future successor.  By this I did not mean any man to-day on earth.[78]
“‘Science and Health makes it plain to all Christian Scientists that the manhood and womanhood of God have already been revealed in a degree through Christ Jesus and Christian Science, His two witnesses.[79]  What remains to lead on the centuries and reveal my successor, is man in the image and likeness of the Father-Mother God, man the generic term for mankind.’”[80]  She does not say, as many Christian Scientists put it, “Generic man would be her successor as the leader of the Christian Science Cause, so generic man is her successor.”  She says that generic man (the man spoken of in Genesis 1) will “reveal” her successor.  And remember how I wrote that Leah “revealed” Dinah (Love) to Jacob?

Genesis 35:22 – And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land [of material growth and comfort in matter], that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine:  and Israel heard it…  (I think, that this represents a tone of the Word in the tone of Christianity.  However, it could also represent Mind [Reuben] Science [Bilhah] as depicted in the matrix that is to follow.)

Bridge from Jacob to Joseph (Genesis 35:23-36:43)

“Just as the story of Jacob leads inevitably to that of Joseph, so, in the early 1900s, the door was open for Christian Science to be understood in its universal, nonsectarian Science, as the heaven-born identity of mankind.”[81]  If Jacob represents Mary Baker Eddy’s mission, then it stands to reason that there must be a second woman God-crowned mission as Joseph, to fulfill the Science squared-cycle, or the hub of the wheel!
A new order is presented to us of the twelve sons.  We must ask why Rachel’s two sons are presented before the two handmaidens.  Remember the last tone, Christianity as Christianity, Jacob presents his wives to Esau (as the Word), now we are in the tone of Christianity as Science, so Leah’s seven children are presented first in the tone of Christianity and Rachel’s two sons are presented next for the tone of Science.  Then the two-servant handmaid’s sons are mentioned as the Christ head and the Christ body (or Christ-mass).

…Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

These are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram (the land of the Matrix).  And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.  And the days of Isaac were an hundred and eighty years.  And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. (Gen. 35:23-29)  Wow, remember how Isaac was afraid he was going to die way back when he was fooled into giving Jacob the blessing?  Yet he has been alive up to this point!  Isaac finally gives up personal sense, the ghost, and dies (only personal sense ever dies).
Chapter 36 deals with the lineage of Esau, the physical.  The physical must also have its scientific order, even if it is negatively expressed.  First it lists Esau’s sons that he has by his three wives (Three Degrees) in the land of Canaan.  None of these wives are the same, or have the same names, as mentioned earlier in Jacob’s Saga, before Jacob leaves for Haran.
Next comes the list for his sons in the land of Seir, and it lists his grandsons, by Eliphaz, and Aholibamah’s sons as dukes (leaders, or rather leading thoughts or leading traits, leading qualities).  After this it lists the sons of Seir the Hitite (lineage of Noah, Ham, Canaan, and Heth).  These sons are also dukes.  And then grandsons are listed.  After this a lineage of kings are listed.  And finally Esau’s dukes are listed once more.
Esau’s wives now have new names.  They are Adah (daughter of Elon the Hittite), Aholibamah (daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon), and Bashemath (daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebajoth).  Did Esau get divorced or did the writer of Genesis forget what he had previously written?  I think that these new wives are meant to bring forth something new within Esau’s conscious thought.

The First Degree Wife

Adah means, “beauty; comeliness; adornment; ornament; pleasure.”  She represents the pleasure of the physical senses, The First Degree.

Elon means, “strong man; an oak; any embodiment of strength, power, or stability.”  Elon, to me, symbolizes the oak tree where Jacob had his people bury personal sense objectivity and false gods.

The Second Degree Wife

Aholibamah means, “tent of the high place.”  I see her as residing in the higher consciousness belonging to The Second Degree.  However, she must overcome her father and grandfather’s negative traits.

Anah means, “answering.”  Negatively the name represents “error tendencies, or strongly influencing thoughts, deep within the subjective life forces in individual consciousness, which cause these life forces to respond to the desires of the flesh or sense man (answering) instead of listening to Spirit.”[82]  Positively it would be answering for ones sins and repenting.

Zibeon means, “immersed; dipped in; dyed; tinged; variegated; ravenous preyer; wild robber.”  He symbolizes “a wild, lawless sense thought that has the capacity of adopting itself to the varying ideas and moods of the individual; thus it remains in his consciousness (until it is cast forth by Truth) and robs his body of its energy and substance.”[83]  The word “variegated” makes me think of the rods that Jacob placed by the watering places.  Are we going to accept the human (red and/or brown) and divine (white – The Third Degree) coincidence as reality or are we going to believe that the mixture of good (red – The Second Degree) and evil (black – The First Degree) is what is real?

The Third Degree Wife

Bashemath means, “fragrant.”  Ishmael means, “whom God hears; understanding of God; whom God understands; who is obedient to God.”

Nebajoth means, “prominences; heights; cultivation of the soil; husbandry; fruitfulness; perminations; prophetic utterances; inspired words.”  It is quite clear that Bashemath represents, because of Ishmael really representing spiritual understanding, The Third Degree.

Eliphaz means, “God is purification; God is dispenser; God of strength; Whom God makes strong.”

Reuel means, “led of God; shepherded of God; friendship of God; companion of God.”

Jeush means, “to whom He (God) hastens; he will urge; he will make haste; he will collect; he will assemble; he will bring together.”  Jeush also means, “councilor.”

Jaalam means, “elevation.”

Korah means, “bald; smooth; crystal; clear; ice; cold; bald-headed; without horns.”  Negatively Korah represents the cold bareness of ecclesiastical despotism.  But it is interesting that he has some of the same qualities of Jacob and Mahalath.

With the definitions of these five sons, let us look at them in a different way, as a pyramid structure.

Eliphaz (as the First Degree must be spiritually led by the Third Degree of) Reuel

It is because both Jacob and Esau have such great wealth that the land (wherein they were strangers) could not bear them, or handle all of their cattle (Christhood).  So Esau dwelled in mount Seir. (Gen. 36:7, 8)

Genesis 36:9 – And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:  These are the names of Esau’s sons:

The six sons of ELIPHAZ as The First Degree must be led by the divine calculus of The Third Degree.  This must be done so that The Second Degree sons can be lifted up out of the physical.  This is made clear by the fact that the list for Eliphaz’s sons are listed first, then Reuel’s sons, and finally Aholibamah’s (once more having to do with Motherhood) sons are listed.

Teman means, “south; southern quarter; on the right side, i.e., when facing east; sunny; good fortune.”

Omar means, “bringing forth; bring into the light; top; summit.”

Zepho means, “outlook; watcher; watchtower; high watch.”

Gatam means, “puny; thin; greatest fatigue; exhausted; burned field.”

Kenaz means, “centralized strength; possessor; spear thrower; lancer; archer; hunter; loin; side; flank.”

Amalek means, “warlike; dweller in the vale; valley dweller; that licks up [consumes].”

Timna means, “withheld; restrained; forbidden.  She is the mother of Amalek.  She represents the type of motherhood based upon ecclesiastical despotism.”

Nahath means, “letting down; coming down; descending; resting; quieting; pressing down.”

Zerah means, “rising of light; beginning of light; breaking forth of light.”

Shammah means, “astonishment; amazement; cave; laid waste; desolation; destruction; fame.”

Mizzah means, “flowing down; melting away; fear; terror; exhaustion; disintigration.”

The listing of sons as dukes.  The sons of Eliphaz are in a different order and has one new son.

*His Son’s name is Jobab

Korah means, “bald; smooth; crystal; clear; ice; cold; bald-headed; without horns.”  Remember that the third son of Aholibamah is also Korah.

Sons of Seir (all of them are dukes) – Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan

Lotan means, “covered; wrapped up; hidden; secret; dark.”

Shobal means, “way; path; going away; wandering; travailing; going up; growing; producing; producing ears; sprouting; shoot; flowing copiously; rain; current.”

Zibeon means, “immersed; dipped in; dyed; tinged; variegated; ravenous preyer; wild robber.”

Anah means, “answering.” In the negative, Anah answers to physical desires of the flesh.  In the positive Anah would be man’s atonement with God.

Dishon means, “gazelle; antelope; leaping walk; fatness; opulence; fertile; ashes, so called from their use as a fattener of the soil, fertilizer.”

Ezer means, “surround; envelop; help; unite; succor; aid; treasure.”  Ezer is belief in the oneness with All-good and power to protect man.

Dishan has the same meaning as Dishon.

Sons of Duke Lotan – Hori and Hemam

Hori means, “(a) cave dweller; imprisoned; black; (b) free; noble; white.”  Hori represents the subconscious (cave).  A cave is also a symbol for the womb, birth, and church.

Hemam means, “durable; lasting; faithful; trustworthy; sure; truer thoughts full of faith and trust in God.”

Lotan’s sister – Timna

Timna means, “withheld; restrained; forbidden.”  Timna represents The Mother Church that helps out carnal mind through the practice of religion, until the Christ comes as the Bride (the City).

Sons of Duke Shobal – Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepo, and Onam

Alvan means, “sublime; tall.”  Alvan is a lofty concept about the physical, that man has his origin in Spirit.

Manahath means, “resting; quieting; restoring; bequeathing; giving; forsaking; abandoning.”  Manahath is where error abandons man and a degree of Truth is realized within consciousness (spiritual understanding takes place).

Ebal means, “stripped of all covering; bare; naked; barren; stone.”  Ebal is the activity of physical law working in those who think and act out of harmony with divine Principle.  They become as naked as Adam in the Garden of Eden.

Shepo means, “unconcern.”

Onam means, “able; strong; stout; vigorous; powerful; wealthy; substantial; luminous; brilliant.”

Sons of Duke Zibeon – Ajah and Anah

Ajah means, “a vulture.”

Anah means, “answering.”

Children of Duke Anah – Dishon (son) and Aholibamah (daughter)

Sons of Duke Dishon – Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran

Hemdan means, “desirable [sense beliefs turn to dust]; pleasant; grateful; precious.”

Eshban means, “man of understanding; thinking man; man of wisdom; wise man; son of fire.”  Eshban represents human intellectualism.

Ithran means, “redundant; abundant; excellent; plenty; preeminent.” Good thoughts lead to plenty.

Cheran means, “lyre; harp; a stringed instrument; united; a joyous shout.”  A harmonious unifying thought that is active in physical sense cannot bring about true oneness or atonement; it must be active via spiritual understanding.

Sons of Duke Ezer – Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan

Bilhan means, “bashful; modest; confused; timid; weak; tender.”

Zaavan means, “disquieted; shaken; disturbed; agitated; trembling; quaking; terrified; fearful.”

Akan means, “keen; acute; twisted; warped; perverted; keen of vision.”  Akan seems to divert from what is Truth, he perceives the sense plane and is blind to the real truth of man’s being.

Sons of Duke Dishan – Uz and Aran

Uz means, “consulting; making firm; fixing; hardness.”  Uz is a process of thought where man reaches the conclusion whether it is either error or Truth.

Aran means, “active; nimble; a wild goat; firmness.”  Aran represents aggressiveness, obstinacy of thought that is untrained and undisciplined in Science.

Bela (son of Beor)”

Jobab (son of Zerah)

Hadad (son of Bedad, city is called Avith)

Samlah of Masrekah

Saul of Rehoboth

Baal-hanan (son of Achbor)

Hadar (city is called Pau; his wife is Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab)

Genesis 36:31 – And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.  And Bela [swallow up; destroy; devour any substance; utterly consume; vanish away; destruction] the son of Beor [a torch; a lamp; consuming fire; an eating flame; consume by grazing; brutish; stupid; foolish; one who tends a flock; a shepherd.  A false shepherd.] reigned in Edom: and the name of this city was Dinhabah [robber’s den; place of plundering; aggregation of thoughts of sense, error that rob the real man of substance and life].

From these negative definitions it sounds as if this land and its kings are no good!  The desire to destroy the material body because you are in pain, or even to die to escape your pains, is not The Way.  The physical body must be translated and transformed; this translation and transformation must be understood to be the manifestation of the Christ that comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error.
Jobab means, “celestial jubilation; shout of joy; fullness of joy; welling shout of rejoicing; trumpet call of victory; desert; howling of wild beasts; wall of tribulation.”  Zerah means, “rising of light; beginning of light; breaking forth of the son; sunrise; appearing; birth of a child; germination of a seed scattering rays; brightness; brilliance; splendor; glory.”
Hadad means, “sharp; quick; vehement; might; force; power; majesty; glory; splendor; joyous; rejoicing.  Hadad represents hidden principle.”  Bedad means, “son of Adad; separation; alone.  He is the belief that man is separated from God.”  Spiritually speaking, however, Bedad is the action of Spirit (separation) and is all-one or the onlyness of Spirit.  The city of Avith means, “ruins; overthrown; overturned; perverted; perverse.”
Samlah means, “garment; raiment; outer garment; mantle; covered; wrapped; clothed.”  Masrekah means, “vineyard of noble (purple) vines; place of noble vines, i. e. bearing purple grapes; place of red streams.”  Actually, I see both of these names in the positive.  I think of the Concord Grapevine congregation for the city foursquare, the Church that was a gift from Mary Baker Eddy, who was given the mantle of Jesus Christ.  Negatively these two would represent hidden hypocrisy of the Babylonian woman.
Saul means, “asked for; desired; demanded; wished.”  Saul represents the action of the [self] will in getting what it desires.  Spiritually interpreted Saul would represent true “Prayer.”  Rehoboth means, “broad places; enlargements; broad lands; wide streets; market places; forums.”  This sounds like a place where church gatherings come together in order to pray for the continuation of material organization.
Baal-hanan means, “Baal is gracious; possessor of compassion; lord of mercy.” It is expressed in the objective before man’s true origin is understood to be spiritual.  This type of man takes credit for the good in his life instead of recognizing that his good comes from God.  Achbor means, “a mouse; gnawing mouse; a rat.”  Achbor is the belief that evil is working underhandedly against one’s true being.
Hadar means, “sharp; quick; vehement; might; force; splendor; joyous; rejoicing; where one returns for rest; concealed inner chamber; hidden principle (all light; all knowledge; all wisdom).”  Pau means, “a yawning deep.”  A yawn is a wide opening or it can be the opening of the mouth in order to complain.  Mehetabel means, “to whom God does good; God benefits; bettered of God; God is the greatest good; the best part is God; God-favored; God is good.”  Mehetabel bespeaks the further awakening of the human consciousness to the goodness of God.  Matred (the mother of Mehetabel and wife of Hadar) means, “following continually; pursuing; thrusting forward; propelling; shoving; driving forth; a short spear; a goad; a wand; a scepter; a royal mace.”  Matred is the sacrifice of sense toward spiritual perfection (Soul).  Mezahab (father of Matred) means, “water of gold; universal manifestation of light’s glory; water of the golden light; water of purity; water of the sun, i.e., light radiations; emanations of the shining one.”  In the positive Mezahab is a symbol of divine teachings (waters) that come from the elements of divine Mind.

Genesis 35:40-43 presents Esau’s duke (leading thoughts) sons, again (different names).

Alvah means, “sublimations (of evil); sublimity; twisted; pervert; wicked; evil.”  Alvah typifies the animal nature in man that exalts itself above Spirit.
Jetheth means, “fixing firmly; securing; stability; subjection; subjugation; a tent peg; pin; nail.”  Jetheth is that consciousness in man that believes in force, in a compelling, driving, binding, suppressing force in order to keep one steadfast and in place of power.  This type of thinking leads to bondage of the physical body.
Aholibamah means, “tent of the high place.”
Elah means, “terebinth; oak; so called from its strength, hardness, and size.”  Elah’s type of strength and protection fails when it is based upon physical faith (faith in matter drugs, hygiene, machines, physical forces, etc.).
Pinon means, “darkness; perplexity; distraction; hopelessness.”  Pinon is anxiety, confusion, and hopelessness.
Kenaz “centralized strength; possessor; spear thrower; lancer; archer; hunter; loin; side; flank.”
Teman means, “south; southern quarter; on the right side…good faith; firm….”
Mibzar means, “cut off; inaccessible; walled; lofty; impervious; fortified; difficult for assault; fortification.”  Mibzar is the ruling belief of mortal mind that things of Spirit, of God, are hard to understand and are unattainable.
Magdiel means, “excellence of God; most precious fruits of God, praise of God; God is renowned; God’s most precious gift.”
Iram means, “urban; city-wise; congregation; civic body.”  Iram is a chief, but he cannot work alone because he belongs to the congregation (he is a member of the Church).
